because the only thing that matters in defence is weight, right?

i dunno if he's good enough in D, if he is then Potter is likely to pick him. If not, then he'll keep working on it in reggies.

Brooks isnt even ready, needing anasta, not a finished product. How do you expect moses to be ready.

he may be ready to put his feet on the field, but nrl ready at this time in the comp, no. We dont need another unfinished product at this stage, we need experience and known knowns

not picking him to start at 1 this week. mostly because with Farah out we're more likely to need Austin to play 14 as Luani isn't an 80 minute player.

Think giving moses 80 at full back would be a mistake at the moment. he would be better coming in at 6 where he can defend with a centre and second rower either side of him. brooks needed that, but now appears to be holding his own.

for mine fullback has to be richards or nofa and slot in the new bloke from the dogs on the wing.

You would think when Robbie is away with origin duties he will be selected. Personally I think we should play Anasta at 9 because he has strong defence and a great offload. My team is

1: Moses
6: Austin
7: Brooks
9: Anasta

This way we can also go back to 4 forwards on the bench to provide more go forward and also added help in defence as the forwards will be rotated more and less tired.

Austin -1

Brooks - 7
Moses - 14

I'm thinking this is quite possible. Anasta will play 6 and I think Austin is a certainty to be named fb. Having Moses off the bench allows for a few options

I don't think Moses on the bench is right for the panthers game. Luani won't be playing 80 and that will mean Austin will have to go to hooker when Moses comes on. Let Austin play the full 80 at fullback because he has to stay there for the remainder of the year.

Why woudn't Halatau be hooker? Is he injured?

He is tough enough for FG, the hit he took from Edwards on Saturday would have required a big effort to get back on his feet

His performance in the last 20 minutes of the Mounties match convinced me that he is not ready. When the match started to go pear-shaped for the Tigers he compounded the team's problems.

He exhibited bad decision making (and execution) under pressure (probably the impulsiveness of youth) and dreadful defense.

His attempted short kick-off put me in mind of Benji – it was absolutely the worst thing he should have attempted at that point in the game (defending a lead with the clock counting down). Then, when he kicked it into the grandstand, I was sure he was channelling Benji.

A couple of plays later, defending the try line as a result of the free kick he gifted the Mounties, he missed a one-on-one tackle that resulted in a try, and consolidated the Mounties charge for the lead late in the match.

He deserved a good kick up the date from the coach.

And now supporters are suggesting he deserves to be picked in firsts.

People on this forum are constantly demanding non-performers be dropped from firsts; but now are suggesting that a 19 year old, who played some part in losing the game against the Mounties, be promoted to firsts.

I don’t understand why supporters think he will suddenly mature and man-up in defence.

I don’t doubt his courage, but he needs more time.

He has been getting cheap shots all season … he would be better protected in the NRL to be honest he certainly seems tough enough .

I agree that Moses should get his debut with Farah in the team. It will be far more beneficial for him that he comes in with a more structured team that only comes with Farah's leadership.

That being said, I don't see any harm in Moses getting a crack sooner than later.

Worst case scenario - he has a crap game and gets injured
Best case scenario - we all shit our pants like we did when Brooks had his debut

I'm willing to roll the dice…..just not this round.

My preference for Penrith:

1\. Austin
6\. Anasta
7\. Brooks

14\. Halutau

Everyone forgets about Halutau but he is solid. If Austin ends up being shithouse, then he can go back to the bench and Moses can get a crack.
