Is the Wests Tigers training up to scratch? Compaired to other teams

The examples of Lote etc are probably true.

But this makes my point.

You are using examples from years ago.

Each coaching set up is responsible for the intensity of their training schedule. You can't compare a Jason Taylor/Mick Potter regime to the current one.

And none of those regime's had the COE.

To say our training standards are soft compared to others is always going to be based on innuendo, disappointment & rumour.

We aren't playing well, so we are disappointed, and more open to believe speculation as truth.

Add in a media hell-bent on death riding the club, and all you'll hear is speculation, rumour & innuendo.

Hard to believe that Richo, Benji, Heighington & John Morris wouldn't know how hard other clubs train. And Morris/Heighno set up the Sharks training schedules, remember?

100% this.

You can't expect a 19 year old to have the same physical strength & toughness of a similarly sized 26-27 year old that has been through multiple years of NRL standard training.

That isn't to say they will NEVER have that strength. Just that these kids are in their career infancy. They are not NRL hardened yet. And our squad is FULL of these guys.

That isn't being critical of the club. After years upon years of prioritizing signing players cast off from other clubs, the Tigers are force feeding a talented group of their own juniors playing & training experience. It will pay off in the end.
It’s one of the reasons I’ve been so impressed with Galvin. I recall Moses and Brooks were both defensive liabilities at that stage of their careers.

I wish I could share your optimism, but I can’t see it paying off until we get the mix of experience/youth right. We seemed to be on the right path pre 2013, with a strong focus on juniors, while equally valuing experience. Sheens return coincided with a stronger focus on juniors but have we gone too far?
Just my opinion, but if you want the juniors to survive and thrive, they need to be surrounded by experienced drivers.
Api, Klemmer, Turuva, Luai, Bateman, Olam.

That’s a pretty handy list of guys who’ve been to the top.

We need a few more especially in the forwards, but it’s not a terrible start.

Not sure about Turuva being an experienced Driver? I love the way he goes after the ball but havent seen enough of him to give his defence a tick?

I guess he could be a disappointment here but I like the way he runs without self preservation, we need that. Love to see him and Olam fit and firing to start our sets.
