Is Vegas V'Landys undoing?

Picture says it all - who's chasing into the corner?

Wingers will need front row tickets!

These two games are likely to be a drudge-fest or bad blow-outs - the field is too narrow - in-goals too shallow and unless the refs intentionally employ a 12-15 metre rule the "spectacle" that they are promising will be sadly lacking.

American betting agencies don't pay money to the sports that they use to gamble on, unlike here.
I don't know how VLandys will be making money from them.
It's all about about trafficking a tiny portion of the US betting market to the NRL's online betting partners - but any bookie can offer odds on the games regardless!

Im interested in these Vegas games and am looking forward to both.
So am I as it is the start of the NRL season - (good thing I don't have to rely on FTA...)

But the hype is all for the domestic Australian market - and the media boys club on the biggest group junket of their lives!

We won't have a true indication of the net cost-benefit balance for this exercise to the NRL until at least 3 years into the 5 year agreement.

I fully understand it is baby steps into a big market - but Rothfield dribbling that "NRL is a better game/product and has better athletes than NFL" to a live audience was as massive brain-fart & a marketing disaster for any NFL fans in the audience that they want to introduce the game to!

My thoughts are that this is a great promotion but after all the action that has been shown with the big hits and great athleticism in creating tries, I am just worried that the size and design of this ground is going to lead to a disappointing spectacle and quite possibly some serious injuries.

Can yanks have an aussie betting account? I know only Aussies and kiwis can have a sportsbet account.

Was Vegas really the success they want us to believe?

of the 40,000 who attended the game over 20,000 were from Australia and the U.K.

tickets were given away on the Vegas strip to anyone who would take one.

it cost the NRL a bomb to get this off the ground.

PVL said the measure to success was how many Yanks would watch the game on Fox in the US.

well the US tv ratings are in…

despite a big lead in audience from the basketball game that preceded the First NRL game , only 60,000 yanks watched the first game and only 40,000 watched the 2nd game.

so, 100,000 Yanks tuned out after the Basketball game, and a further 20,000 tuned out after the first NRL game, despite being in prime time…

only 60,000 Yanks tuned into game 1, taking population numbers into account, that’s equivalent to 7,300 Aussie's tuning into Fox league to watch an NRL game….Big fail!!!

im not surprised…waste of money

Good post.
Thanks for sharing...

Very underwhelming but not surprising.
American sports are traditional and national past time, over there.

Football (NFL), baseball, basketball and even wrestling... it was always a big ask to compete with what they've grown up loving.

I liked the product, delivered last Sunday - Allegient stadium looked amazing.
