I still think the easiest and best solution is this
When the player agent and club meet to sign a contract a representative from the NRL must
1 /be a witness to the contract
2/ explain exactly what the contract is ie $$$'s length any special agreements ...bonuses
3/ The NRL person explains to the player if he gets any extras on top of that contract and he is caught he automatically gets a 2 year ban ...no questions asked
Once you make the player aware of that I'm sure players will think twice about even accepting a brown paper bag ..or winning a golf game
In the end the players don't really care what happens to player agents or the club ......if you can possibly take food off their tables ....make the kids go to public school ...drive around in a 2nd hand car .....that worries them
I actually like that. Cant whinge about restraint of trade or unfairness then. After all, you are signing and NRL contract.
