Isaiah Papali’i #265

It's all a bit late for that. They should have given him "wallet noise" many months ago.

In fact I hope, if IP does in fact ask not to come, that we enforce his contract not just to maintain the principle and legal right, but to give a big f.u. to Parramatta.

To think 2 of the 3 biggest dogs to ever wear Tigers colours are still running around at the Eels, and one of them is publicly hopeful his team-mate will renege on his contract, just tells you what a piece of shit organisation they are.
Beautiful comment... 1000% agree

Most RL supporters (and many who don't follow RL) hold Benji in high regard, especially players like Papili'i' who are NZ reps. I believed you should be informed Papali'i' had given Marshall a compliment about his new role at WTs in that article. It was at odds with your comment. I note you failed to address that in your initial response.

Scum club with typical gutter tactics to try and get a player to pull out of their contract!
Filter feeders!
What’s wrong with IP to not realise how badly they treated and massively undervalued him as a person and player??
Didn’t the sea slugs pull the same call with Moses, signing him then saying ‘we still have money in the cap for this season if your available’ hint hint!!!!
NRL is a joke, and to thing those peanuts at pawa tried to get us on signing stefano!!
Oh well let’s hope it’s another 40 odd years till they win another premiership!
Just remember Peter sterling had hair last time the filter feeders won a premiership…

I wonder if it's just about the money though....
If he wants to stay at parra, let him, tear up his contract and let him stay there, the nrl and the clubs have got to get together. If while playing for one club you sign a contract with another, it should be registered upon signature being penned by that player, then if player tries to back out, sue that player, this is supposed to be a professional sport. But they currently let players please themselves.

Where there is fuel there is fire.

Just like to add that no contract should be broken and both player and the clubs involved ( club letting go and club receiving ) should be penalised if a contract is not fulfilled . I see just a big problem of what the dogs are doing (formerly Penrith ) under Gould in forcing players out and letting go of players early . To me this is just as big problem as players agitating to leave .

But my post is just in relation to point 1.
Would that contract be valid if certain assurances were made even if not written into contracts .

I can see one day someone challenging a contract they signed a year or two out before starting it .

For instance If they sold it as a experienced coaching set up and then say we are going to have a first timer coach could than not be grounds to make a contract invalid .

Just return to old June 30 deadline and these contract messes would cease
Sometimes there are good reasons to break contracts ( see below).

As for the assurance issue, it depends on the contract. Some contracts have provisions which exclude any other assurances or representations made outside of the contract ( ie verbal promises). That would include your new coach scenario.

I understand many players have seen fit to get out of contracts before performing to their terms.

Offer, acceptance and consideration are to do with forming the contract but not performing it.

Sometimes contracts are formed by mistake as to what the deal is. They can also be undone by what is called frustration.

So where paps gets a serious long term case of covid, he can’t perform under the contract he signed with us, he breaches his contract but it’s not his fault. He shouldn’t be penalised.

He might be being induced to break his contract but until he breaks it or advises us he’s going to breach it, we have to tough it out.

But I agree we should politely indicate to him that he’s coming..and that’s all there is to it.

Contract chaos will live forever.

To get out of our contract, he may try to argue he didn’t understand it or it breaches law etc.

I wouldn’t put it past Pascoe to make our contracts very tough on the players. They need to be.

I still think we should have got Ivan coaching the lawn for awhile!

I know right. It’s not like he is still weighing up his options. He has already committed, and his teammates are going public in their hopes that he will break said contract.

If he goes to extreme measures to get out of his contract, I would love to see a successful law suit made by the tigers.

A lot of people confidently saying he signed a contract and he'll be here.... But the direct quotes from Paps himself are very strange and worrying. Even if he came, his own words sound like he doesn't want to leave Para.
If he didn’t want to leave parra why sign with us? Bad luck this should be our line in the sand moment no backing down at all , if we let him walk nobody will take us serious

They don't have fans.

Until finals.
Then they come out and act all proud, before some team beats them out of contention.

Been that way since I can remember 😂
When I was a kid in the late 80s early 90s they were on the same park as the seagulls .

Begging for chips?
Yea that made no sense . I meant they were sucked as much as the Gold Coast sea gulls .they were garbage times a million until super league kissed them on the dick and they were handed the real big 4 , because no other arl team could afford them at the time .

Hey everyone, I've not long got back from golf to find WW3 regarding IP's contract. What the?
What has happened since he assured WT that he will honour his contract. Have I missed something.
Is there anything substantial to warrant concern?
What's changed in the last 2 days?

Another reason what’s it’s stupid players signing so far out from when the contract starts, this is case in point.

He has 2 options.
1. man up, honour his contract and help us turn this turd around
2. kick stones and spend 3 years in our reserve grade

We have to sue him and his manager for the breaking of said contract, and let parra keep him after we sue them and claim for damages from the breaking of that contract, and fine parra for instigating the breaking of same. But lets hope none of this is true.

Take up huge amount of our salary cap playing reserve grade 🤔
Can someone tell me what's going on.
Is this a reaction from us on the forum to old news....has something developed in the last day or so.
