It was just great to get out and see a game of footy Geo. They are a good young side by the looks of it, and with Littlejohn and Edwards and Sulli or Rankin to come back they should do well.
@fulleightyminutes said:Masters looked good. Scored a try and almost set up a couple more. Paps played the first half (Heleta played second) and was always a threat, especially around the ruck. It was pretty wet at the start and so it was more a forwards game. He looks young, but I was impressed. Peck was the standout for me. The team was a different thing when he was on the field.

Great to hear Marsters was busy, I've got high hopes for him in our backrow. He's exactly what we have been lacking since Ellis. I haven't seen much of Peck. He'll be one I'll keep an eye on this year.
Has Paps put any weight on?

I didn't read it as Marsters had been busy, moreso that he got a break or two in attack, which is still promising. But I certainly wouldn't remotely compare him with Ellis. Completely different players. Marsters has a long way to go to meet Ellis' workrate and committment but i certainly hope he gets there. The attacking part of his game is solid.
Look forward to watching these boys go around when the season starts

Esan Marsters looks good especially from what these highlights show. The more experience he gets training with the FG side as well as hopefully playing a few FG games, the better he will become. He has shown his has the skills and abilities to succeed in the NRL. We just need to give him time and support and hopefully he can become a quality back-rower for the Tigers, and stay a Tiger. The club has shown their interest in keeping him at the club and these higlights show why:

I certainly hope he becomes one too Ben, but as i've said before Esan is a highlights reel kind of player. He'll score a try or make a break and get a lot of attention in the process, but is then often anonymous for large parts of a game.
He needs to make more dirty hitups. Make more tackles. Improve his fitness. Learn when to offload or take the tackle. He's young and learning his trade so hopefully he works on these aspects of his game in NSW cup this season.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Marsters is at all comparable at this stage of his career. Far from it and he may never get there. What I am saying is that we have been lacking an impact second rower who is big and powerful and can run a good line and put the opposition in two minds.
I agree he needs to do more dirty work, which is what I fear he may not possess but if he keeps developing as he is then I think he will make a very good first grader in the future.
