@happy_tiger: from the wording of this post you have proven without any doubt whatsoever you are 'the great optimist' and good on yuh for that :relaxed said:
You are obviously a naturally positive and enthusiastic person as I am most of the time, particularly when it comes to Our Wests Tigers.
But, after yesterday's effort, I am no longer positive and have lost a great deal of enthusiasm. I felt very flat after yesterday's game as I still do this morning.
I had a great week leading up to yesterday due to it being Benji's 300th and for goodness sake, we had the home ground advantage? If Our 'Team' can't get UP for this game...
I really hope I am shown to be wrong, but I just can't see Us winning the next 2 games.
I full well realise We have won games dirty this season, but I don't remember a game where We won it due to Us being the better side and deserving the win. But then being an old fart as I am [and that's a cover for a lot of stuff you can't get away with when younger] I probably have short and not so short memory loss, so please remind me when that deserving game was @happy_tiger.
In finishing, I reckon We only had 2 players out there yesterday 'fully' deserving their place in Our Team being Chris Lawrence :v: for the continuing outright bravery he is showing after a horrific injury and without a doubt Our all-time greatest player BENJI MARSHALL 😛oint_up: :v: .
Ps...Our team is a friggin mess :skull_and_crossbones: .

Exactly my thoughts.
Yesterday was everything to play for and against no worlbeaters. And from the first whistle the team and particularly the forwards showed no desire or effort. It looked like we were in training run mode.
Feel for the coaching staff .... I’m sure they saw what was coming also.

G'day @balmain-boy: if it's good enough for Benji to endorse Madden, well that's definitely ok with me, cheers :relaxed:

@momo_amp_medo: Sorry :skull_and_crossbones: . I left out one of your words...no 'desire' or effort. I'll have to proofread my posts before posting won't I. :relaxed:

@MAGPIES1963 Do that often but someone on this forum showed me edit menu right side bottom of the post can fix and then repost.

The competition always takes shape once the Origin series is finished. The dust settles and the best teams are revealed.

Unfortunately where we have settled is the sewer.

@Geo Yes first grade is full of useless players but they are much older and much less inclined to improve than the players we have in reserves. I say get rid of most of our first grade crocks especially Reynolds, Packer, Matulino , cut our future losses and with any money we make on their deals spend it on young up and coming players. It will hurt but it will clear the rubbish for the future,

We will win 4-5 of the remaining games and end up on 24-26 points and wrap up 9-10th position.
It’s where we are at. Team pays hard but missing key players and lacks talent.

We need to move players on and sign strategic players that are solid. Centre, Fullback, Front Row and a goal kicker. We need more team speed across the park.

With a team that lacks strike we need good players in every position with no weak links.
The positive is with a mid table position we are more attractive to players moving forward. It should be easier to recruit and not pay overs if the team is a definite chance each year of finals.

I'm a sucker. Ill stick with it till every mathematical chance is gone. At that point I start hoping for 2-3 teams above us to loose points for Salary cap breaches.

Maguire not shying away from ladder position

Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael Maguire said a lack of pressure was the undoing in his side's 30-18 defeat to the Parramatta Eels at Bankwest Stadium on Sunday.

After controlling the match for the best part of the first 25 minutes, Maguire's side fell behind to two quick tries before the break and were unable to truly recover despite a second half double to David Nofoaluma and several other good chances.

Maguire, and veteran Benji Marshall, said it was simple errors that continued to rob the side of a chance to build pressure and come away with the two points.

"We certainly have a bit to work on, I know that," Maguire said post-match.

"One thing about this group is that they try, but we need to be more diligent around certain areas of the game. We had a lot of errors and we didn't apply pressure.

"Unfortunately, that just puts pressure on yourself [and] if you keep doing that, you'll end up like it was on the scoreboard."

Marshall addresses Bankwest Stadium after his 300th match

Off the back of his 300th NRL game, Marshall echoed the coach's sentiments.

"Our group does try but there are a lot of things we’ve got to work on," he said.

"Especially on a day like today, it was hard to celebrate because I want to win and make the finals. Today was special but I would rather have got the result.

“As a leader in this group, part of me wants to make sure we do that and that didn’t happen today, Simple errors cost us a lot and then we’re chasing the game at the back end, and I think we're a better team when we're in the fight."

Sunday's loss leaves Wests Tigers just one win outside the top eight with a tough fortnight of away matches coming up — a trip to the nation's capital this Saturday to take on Canberra is followed by a journey up to Newcastle in Round 19.

Maguire said it was getting close to "must-win" territory for his team.

"It is getting close to that [time] and the players know that, so it's going to be about how we go about this week and roll on in to the next game," he said.

"We're aware of where we are on the ladder, but we've got to make sure that we get out and do all the little things because it will turn.

"We're a very capable team this group — I've got a lot of belief around this group, as I've said many times, because I've seen a change as we've gone throughout this season. They've just got to make sure that they believe now.

"Sometimes it's not all the stuff you see on the field, it's the leadership things that they're showing. They're changing the character of who they are and those sort of things are the things that are going to take this team and club forward."

I'm sure behind closed doors Madge tells it to the players like it is....

lol, Madge, we know that's code word for our boys being bloody useless.

Speaking of analysis:
As the table currently sits we play three top 4 teams twice. We play one top 4 team once. We play all teams sitting 5-8 twice. Therefore, of the current top 8, we play all bar one team, twice.
Teams sitting 9-12, we play one team twice and two teams once. Of teams 13-16 we play three of these teams once and one of them twice. So of the bottom eight teams, five of them we only play once.
To simplify this: we have to play 7 of the current top 8 teams twice. We only get to play 2 of the bottom eight teams twice.
Got to love an even competition. Almost as ridiculous as determining a world champion based off boundaries hit ....... oh!
I love rugby league. I despise the NRL with a growing passion. We get shafted non stop! 😡
