Mitchell Moses should be the five eighth for the West Tigers against Manly tonight and these are the reasons why;
1\. He is a real five eighth with real five eighth skills including superior passing and kicking.
2\. He has an established combination with Luke Brooks.
3\. He will provide more variety and penetration in attack by opening up the right side.
4\. He will take pressure off Luke Brooks.
5\. He will gain valuable experience and provide insight into his readiness for the
position.
Blake Austin has been a valuable player for the Tigers this year by providing a spark off the bench but is he a play maker? His strengths are his broken field running and his ability to make individual bursts when the opposition defenses are tired. I don't seem him as a creator. Additionally, he doesn't have a great kicking game. People on this forum will suggest that Moses isn't ready for the pressure cooker of Brookvale Oval and that he'll be found out with his light frame. But what better way to find out? From what I've seen, he's a pretty gutsy and determined character with reasonable low tackling technique and, besides, has Austin's defense been great this year? I'd give Austin another shot at fullback where he played well before. Of course, success in these two positions, depends on the work of our forwards and I'd make another change. I've said it before - Galloway does not deserve to hold his spot. He literally lumbers up, does not bend the line and is slow playing the ball. I don't agree with several posters who typecast Taupau as an impact player off the bench. He DOES bend the line and provides something the team desperately needs - tackle busting ability and aggression! He should start along with Ava instead of Sironen who belongs on the bench. And, of course, the other change that should have happened was the blooding of Asipeli Fine in the centres for Lulia but we all know that Potter is a conservative coach who is reluctant to pick players on form.
