Its been fun but.....

Because it was basically their state Cup Team playing at the end and we had dominated the game to that point where we had 61 tackles in their 20 by that stage. Far different than what Brooks faced.

That said, I love Brooksy but if I could bet him to kick a grubber into the legs over 1 a game I'd be a rich man.
Hastings kicked into legs twice also .didn't seem to get the same scrutiny..

As I said before 1st time Brooks/Hastings played a game together and both created opportunities in attack and combined well ..gave plenty of ball to their outside and inside men..lot to like..

Brooks ran the ball very well on the back of Hastings organising at times in the first 30mins.. hope it continues..

I thought Brooks had a decent game.

I think there are some people here who can’t see past their hate of Brooks. Anyone who thinks Madden is better than Brooks is a really poor judge.

That’s the issue we had 61 tackles in their 20 and didn’t look like scoring

Hastings has so much time with the football in hand.
That was what surprised me most. He's not fast or particularly agile, but had ages with the ball. Very impressive for first run.

There was a time when I may have considered giving Brooks a run at 9 if Hastings and Doueihi were in form, but that ship may have sailed with the arrival of Rua.

I think they did Brooks, Roberts, Tuilagi, Gildart twice all went close..Rorters are a very good defensive team..

They maintained pressure..which tells in the long run..
Much better teams than us have been stifled.

Rua did a couple of times also Geo. On another note, wasn't it good to see a Prop pass to another prop to score a try. Refreshing.

Yep the Roosters have system where new players come in and just do their job, everyone knows where to be in defence.

Any new player in our system just looks lost - as if they don’t know anyone.

I get that and yes there were opportunities but I think we are poor at taking them. Hopefully it builds as the season progresses.

It's just such a shame that a group comes into attack every single little thing that Brooks either does or doesn't do without regard to accuracy. It is a pile on and it comes form the same quarter almost constantly.

It is even sadder to see other more reasonable posters slowly get pulled down into the mire. Take out the Tamou penalty and subsequent try and the game is almost total domination from the starters and likely 17 members.

After some early hiccups our defence was outstanding and our spine combined well on it's first outing. They put up the exact same kick as 90% of others across the competition, control the field position, create numerous opportunities through the middle and get stopped near the line by desperate defence from a highly regarded unit. Defence that we praise our own for keeping the 'better' opposition players from scoring, yet still get unnecessarily lambasted.

Then to cap it off, threads like this are created when we should be focusing on a pretty good effort from a side similarly depleted as the opposition and with a spine that comments on here show most/many would swap in a heartbeat.

Wet weather matches are usually low scoring. We certainly have some work to do but I thought the biggest stifle to our attack last night was Peachey
I want Peachey or someone else in there to offer more variety, though he definitely stifled our attacking structure when he came on. Just needs to inject himself when opportunity arises, rather than act as first receiver.

Brooks and Hastings both moving around each side of the ruck to become the first receiver was working much better.

The sooner the club realises that Brooks shouldn't be playing in the 7 and slot him into the 9 spot the better. He's no half-back.

Against arguably the best organised defence in the NRL and we didnt lose our cool and maintained pressure. It was very encouraging. Brooks/Hastings played well. Hastings looked good the entire game.

Madden came on and played well, against arguably Roosters third string players.

BTW....shout out to the OP who started this thread. This forum has been crying out for an opportunity to discuss Luke Brooks.
