It's time to take the fight back to HBG

Because they are also HBG members, the concern is that members who are closer aligned to APIA than the Magpies have greater influence and numbers.
Honestly, the tales from this little leagues clubs and its 3 pokie dens is just ludicrous. I just want a successful football club. I really hope the NRL steps in and takes control of the club and reinstates the Crawford Barnier report recommmendations in full.
I come from a long line of magpie fans, always had a soft spot for the tigs… I love the club and just want success. I know full well that will never happen while HBG has anything to do with the club. Shame on all the faction side takers. You are the problem.

Agreed mate.

To add:

- HBG actually give more money to Balmain's footy club the the Magpies
- The Magpies footy club board is cooked as well for ordinary members with 4/7 spots appointed by HBG

Outside of people's imaginations, the whole Magpies v Balmain hasn't been a thing for a very long time.
That’s because “wests” are funded by wests Campbelltown , and as a leagues club , what possible juniors are they to fund if not Balmain . It was part of the negotiations when wests bought the shares off Balmain to own wests tigers . It’s not some charity . It’s those ethical responsibility as the wests tigers majority owners to take care of the wests tigers junior base of which just so happens to be Balmain.

This Mark McAlister would prefer to have the Brisbane Magpies or Hamilton Magpies rather than get behind Wests Tigers. Bloody whinging that the Bears are back lol, they are in Perth you imbecile
The only reason they’re back is a cynical attempt to have a supporter base on the east coast to drive eyeballs and viewership when their games are played , as it’s all but guaranteed no matter how successful they are they won’t have anywhere near a respectable market share re. Viewership numbers on the west coast because west coast and Fremantle >>>>>>>>>>>>>> probably the bears >> force.

Agreed mate.
The nrl needs to force a sale . Private ownership 49%, 40% to wests - ctown - 11% Balmain. .
The move into football by HBG/apia . Is fine . If the intent is an eventual A league team . Just invest in the round ball and whatever . It better fits everything these guys are about anyway .
Sell the 49% off to the fanbase ala GB packers , with limits on shares per person in the original sale to stop someone doing a hostile takeover , and give the the club back to the fans.

So Apia sold out to Wests Ashfield in return for some debenture seats?

Who is concerned and who got the best deal out of this?
Sounds like HB outsmarted themselves

Is this what our esteemed owners bought into?

I get more confused by all this garbage with every twist n turn

That’s a pic from the 80s. It’s been updated since then. It’s like posting a pic of Lidcombe Oval from 40 years ago and passing it off as 202…….Disregard that.

Seriously though, Lambert Park has been renovated. Even has synthetic turf now and is used practically everyday for different age groups. Unlike Lidcombe Oval which WSDRLFC seems to lock up and hardly no one on it. Have heard WSDRLFC are trying to punt the cycling clubs out of there too. One is gone.

They have also added a Tiger's great to their name, and support the Balmain pathways. I get your point, but that's not the angle or point I believe @Cultured_Bogan was trying to make. It's prefaced at the start.

Belittling people's comments with "do your homework", when they were well articulated and intelligent, is something that really bugs me. It's the same idiots who say "do your own research", but fall for YouTube propaganda. Especially when you are completely off-tangent from where the argument needs to land.

The more this focuses on Wests, the more you divide people and ignore the real issues around the structure and credentials.

Have a look at the 2025 annual report. They’ve practically removed all reference to ‘Holman Barnes Group’ and gone back to ‘Western Suburbs Leagues Club Ltd.’

Didn’t even notice that
There is an interesting disclosure on page 36 when you compare it to their numbers. My generation are not interested in wasting money in a rigged gambling machine, and when you compare it to the last 10 years, their profits are dwindling.

Intangible assets

Impairment of poker machine entitlements is recognised based on a value in use calculations and is measured at the present value of the estimated future cash inflows available to the consolidated entity from the use of these licenses. In determining the present value of the cash inflows, growth rates and appropriate discount factors have been considered.

The reason for investing in other things?

They’ve never had a strategic plan in place to future proof WTs with cashflow or assets which is why we operate broke, wouldn’t suprise me if they’ve done the same to HBG & now need to pivot

I understand that businesses should diversify. However, when your greatest asset is the success of an NRL club, which can generate greater profits, you should focus on that rather than APIA and football.

Whilst APIA did well this year, they will never move forward or make it into the A-League, so it is a wasted investment.

Unfortunately, there are a few debenture members living in the past who are focusing on the wrong team.
