Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

The proof is in the pudding, if Ivan signs an extension to his current deal then he’s serious but if he’s talking about just committing to his current deal then wow, gee whizz, cock-a-hoop, get down ——— NO, it’s an insult to our intelligence — seeya pretzel.

Ok but when everyone settles down, how is it different to how things were a week ago. Ivan has 2 and a bit years to go on a contract. It was a month ago everyone was emotional about the idea he was going to go to Broncos or Roosters. he still might but nothing has changed, He is with us for the next two years.

Too smart for us!! You are 100% correct.

Ivan Cleary has no plans to jump off Tigers’ bus, will commit future to club on Saturday

Everyone, delete your IC out posts

If IC declares he is staying and doesn't sign an extension then I guess we'll have to sit back and wait to see what NC's next move is. As we know his contract at Penrith runs out before IC's does at the Tigers.
If NC re-signs its going to be a strange couple of years for us, a constant is he, isn't he, when?
An extension would be nice if not just to guarantee a compo pay out in two years time if he goes!!!!

Hmmm, speaking of an insult to our intelligence…..........

It has been an intense few days for Tigers fans. Sometimes in all of that intensity you can lose focus.

For me I need to remember that if Nathan sticks around for the next two years, nothing has changed from a fortnight ago. Tigers fans are sweating over what that means, how will Tigers deal with recruitment etc in those two years.

Sometimes we cant focus and see the forest for the trees. If Ivan commits tomorrow to seeing his contract out, things revert to the Tigers to how they were two weeks ago.

Two weeks ago Tigers were most concerned about Roosters swooping and signing Ivan and Nathan. When is Cronk off contract? Who benefits from both Ivans and Nathans contracts lining up? Who sacked Ivan 3 years ago? Nick Politis is probably pissing himself laughing.

Just imagine if there was a team that has more money and resources as Penrith, had a penchant for big purchases and had an opening for a coach and a halfback in two years.

All Ive read during this saga is how N Cleary was NEVER going to sign with the Tigers. All that has ACTUALLY happened is Panthers have sacked Hook.

So explain to me why N Cleary hasnt signed with Panthers before now then if he loves it there so much. Why does he want to push it out past the nov deadline to test the market. Surely if the Tigers are shit as some are saying and he is sure he doesnt want to go to the Tigers it would be simple. Or maybe there are more than two teams that could use a SOO half and a good coach?

Then explain to me how the Tigers are in any different position to two weeks ago.

Big Deal !
The Panthers have pulled back their offer with the fear of legal action so Ivan looks after himself by drawing a pay cheque for 2 years from us before joining his dream team.
We are the suckers.

I am speechless. I am without speech.

A lot can happen in a couple of weeks let alone a couple of years.

Penrith may well back down.

Imagine getting in a coach for 2 years knowing their getting the arse.

Penrith have put themselves in a shocking position if they dont pull this Cleary powerplay for 2019\. **Gus should resign if so.**

Good outcome for mine

All this talk of not knowing the facts, so we shouldn’t be too hard on Cleary ends with these quotes. Cleary here is guilty by association. If he really intended on not going anywhere, he’d retort to this, because his name would be getting dragged through the mud for no reason. He hasn’t responded because it’s true. Anyone at this point who doesn’t believe Cleary is up to his eye balls in this is in denial.

We all are entitled to our conclusions on this matter.
I just find it rather strange that people are passing judgement before all the facts are known.
And critisizing Clearys reaction to the offer where they would very likely do the same thing. Consider the offer, discuss it with their family and only then advise their current employer.
Now if you would do anything different then you would be telling me there a fairies living at bottom of your garden.

You make me laugh 8 hour's ago your telling me how do I know for certain blah blah , I'm listening to to many rumours blah blah…..
Since you closed your eyes last night and woken up this morning you say that like any offer you'd be discussing it with your family blah blah , but how is that possible when Ivan hasn't said anything ? Did he text you or call you? that's what he was doing ( discussing offer with family) , here you are telling me how I'm reading into to much rumours etc....

Like GNR says your in denial , like so many on here some just take longer than other's to admit the realisation of it all .

Yeah. He reckons its all conjecture but wants to give Cleary an extra 2 years on his contract. Its too funny.

Stranger things have happened…Don't think Cleary has proven he deserves an extension ..it would be rushing it....so if it's not done we are in the same position as before Gus got his finger in the pie...

Unless we extend Ivan we are still in a crap position as far as signing players to longer term deals goes.
The only way out for us now is to extend Ivan’s contract by at least 2 more years.
Otherwise we have to let him go.

Yep, I agree

We lose either way. He stays here because he is forced too and then links up with his son in 2 years. Or we extend his contract when he hasn’t done anything to deserve an extension.

The question that I ask is if the club did not put up a fight would Ivan Cleary have walked out on us to coach the panthers next year? I think we all know the answer to that question.

Who cares if he commits for the next two years. Seems like a total waste of everybody’s time. Pascoe said last year they did not want to let the season drift, so is he prepared to let the next 2 seasons drift? If he stays, good chance he’ll take players with him.
