Surely if he is meeting with another club and there is any discussion around moving on earlier he is in breach of contract.

If he confirms a move and attempts to talk to players around improving or their future (as a coach would) he is acting on behalf of another club and breaking recruitment rules.

Stand him down. No pay but still contracted and unable to work elsewhere

You can’t sue people unless you have evidence , and it doesn’t follow that because some newspaper says something , that it’s the truth

I'm not sure how we lose either. I don't care if Cleary signs elsewhere after his current contract or not. Come out now, reaffirm you are at the tigers for the remainder of your contract at which time you will evaluate your position. It's the same as every other team.

We are talking about if he signs with Penrith while he is still contracted here. Surely you can figure that out?

The media will be all over it, after every loss, every potential signing etc etc.

I couldn't give a rats. Even if he signed an extension they'd be talking about it mate. The media make up whatever they like whenever they like.

Surely you remember a month ago he was done and dusted at Penrith for next year, full stop. Well guess what. He isnt!

You could ask the same questions about the other 15 coaches in the league. Man up, coach the team and if he leaves at the end of his contract well then so be it. As long as he does his best whilst he is here. 2 Years is a long time in this game and there will be 10000 other stories the media will beat up in that time.

The other 15 coaches wont have a contract at another club while currently employed for the next two years at theirs.

Rats or no rats its the reality of what will happen if he signs for Penrith and tries to continue coaching here.

So people are happy to have a coach who has already committed his future to our competitor. So what happens in his final year , who will be recruiting for ? What power will he have to recruit for 2019 and 2020\. Why would anyone want to come here if they know it’s not good enough for the coach to stay. This is no longer about playing slimey Gould’s game, this is about what’s best for us as a team. If this is confirmed that he has signed make no mistake Ivan Cleary is worse than Gould and has zero integrity. Played us and the club for fools the whole time.

Don’t need compensation or weak knees responses. This solid foundation on which this Club,s future reputation is to be built on.

CB I know your a mate of the great Bunny Asprou but Madge is a better coach than Cleary and it’s not even close. He built Souths from the ground up just wore thin after winning a premiership and staying too loyal. He would have learnt from that and wants to stay in Sydney. There won’t be any other jobs for him.

Timing is important. I’d keep Cleary in NSW Cup to work with Hodgo though. Harry may help we need to not be messed with by people wanting to coach little Johnny I. The under 8s.

Get rid of him now! Not the time to dig the heels in to save face, from a recruitment perspective we will ‘drift’ for 2 years if the likely scenario plays out. I don't want to roll over, I don't want to be pushed into releasing Ivan because Penrith want us to. Ivan says he values integrity, well stand up and show us. Either that, or we show him, by not giving in.
