We won't be letting him go," Pascoe told Fairfax Media.

"I've spoken with Ivan a couple of times today and the bizarre thing is there are all these whispers about big offers and long-term deals, but he's told me nothing has taken place other than the fact the Penrith chairman has reached out to him.

"The people out at Penrith or anywhere else can say what they want about having a good relationship with him and they're keen to get him to coach, but they're forgetting one key thing - he is contracted to the Wests Tigers, a club that is very proud and strong and who won't let Ivan go to a rival club.

"We will fight tooth and nail to make sure that doesn't happen. Clubs think we're a pushover and it's not the case. If rivals think they can try and come in and upset what we're trying to do here, they'll have a fight on their hands.

"It upsets me. The Ivan I know and the character he demonstrates daily and what he has done to assist us in rebuilding this club, it gives me the confidence he will only carry on with that professional manner [and not leave]."

After watching 360 i don't know what to believe.

What was said on 360? I missed it

Very disappointed at the moment (if all this is true) however, what annoys me is his meeting with Penrith. This supposibly happened the week of the Bulldogs game..we all know how that turned out for us. Ivan clearly didn't have his mind on the job that week and it reflected on the teams flat performance

“Our position is very clear that Ivan Cleary is contracted with us for another two years and **we expect him to be with us,”** Pascoe told NRL 360.

I don’t think I am alone in thinking if he has a contract with us and we are adamant he sees it out, that we expect stronger language than that. He’s pussy footing around, sounding like a politician. Big fan of Justin, but he dropped the ball here.

I don't think he is pussy footing around - he has stated the facts - he can't stop Cleary from breaching the contract. I would have liked him to address that Wt would take legal action should Cleary do that. I would expect that he has already told Cleary that in private - so much for their close relationship.

No, I agree. I didn’t read the whole post properly. So I retract my last post. Having looked properly, I’m proud he stood up and made the club’s intentions clear. However, if he goes back on his word from here, he should resign.

What Pascoe has said is loaded. I have no doubt this has the potential to go to the next level if what Pascoe has stated does not occur,

Jesus Christ, I don't know what else the CEO can say or do to shut people up.

He was 100% clear that Cleary or his manager have not asked for a release and if either did, it would not be granted. He repeated it twice more during the interview.

What more can be said. I have never seen a clearer response, yet somehow some people see this as pussy footing around or deflecting. You can't be serious. If Cleary just walked out tomorrow and went to Penrith, we would have to sue him for breach of contract. We can't handcuff him and make him stay. Nothing the CEO or anyone could do if it went that far, which I'm sure it wouldn't.

If the coach or any player is approached by someone else, you are doing yourself a disservice but not looking at what is on offer. This is NO different to any other worker in any industry. Because you were approached doesnt make it your fault.

As for Kent's comments about Cleary wanting a move now and it was his request, I think that has been taken way out of context. And I'm not sure I believe everything Kent says anyway.

After just hearing on 360 what transpired in the meeting with Penrith, Cleary needs to leave now.

I couldn’t believe what Kent said .. wow !

I’d piss him off immediately!

Never rated Ivan anyway ….

Doesn’t know who his top 17 are ...

Five captains ....lmao

What did Kent say?

If we can somehow hang on to him, surely the advantage to sign Nathan swings back to us, as they can unite a year earlier at our club than they can at Penrith (Assuming Pascoe is good to his word).

This part worries me. This is the part that says to me "yes Ivan wants to leave". If not then why would Pascoe need the confidence that Ivan will carry on professionally.

I cant see this ending well.

""We asked if Ivan had an interest in our coaching position and he said 'yes'," Panthers chief executive Brian Fletcher told Fairfax Media."

Is there any sane and rational person out there still trying to say he will stay?

If Ivan leaves, he, Nathan and the whole Panthers administration will top the list just peaking Nick Politis as my most hated people. Our season on the line and he is defecting to meetings with Panthers to see how he can accomodate both him and his son. The Cleary family are a bunch of drama queens.

Get rid of him and sign Maguire ASAP. How we are even going to sign any players after this whole debacle I have no idea. Cleary the master rebuilder my bollocks. Hope his tenure at Penrith burns to the ground

That's right, hang tough despite all the media push to get him to the Panthers, Come November, decision time for Nathan,.

Apparently the offer is massive from the panthers the sad thing is Cleary has not told the board he is staying he is seriously considering the offer to be quiet honest I’m well and truly over this circus about Cleary and his son….

Good strong response. Pascoe is a rock this club must value.
It’s all down to Cleary now!
His reputation is on line here. If he goes to Panthers it’s not WT administration that should carry any blame …....
but it still just does not sit with me that this is how it will end.
