Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

It's funny how the League World works, Gus is not accountable to anything ,he's responsible for extending Griffin's contract till the end of 2020 at the beginning of the year and Griffin has made the finals the last 3 years.
Nice to be in Gus's World

Yep but when the Wests Tigers sack the under performing and useless Jason Taylor we are a rabble and a mess of a club.

This guy is law unto himself and no one in the media has the guts to take him on.

The silence from IC is, however, deafening.
He could put this to bed in a minute if he wanted to.
Strange.
I hope he stays but the longer it drags on without a statement from him the uneasier I get.

It's been 24 hours
Media hype he doesn't need to respond to everything

A glass half full take on it, Gould knows Ivan won't come, so when Nathan leaves to come here, he can say we done everything to keep Nathan here, even offered his dad a job. Gould cops no flak for losing the origin halfback, probably not the real story, but one that wouldn't surprise, also might make sense why the club is mostly silent.

Fingers & toes!

oh the wicked web we weave when we first try to deceive.
when gould sacked cleary a couple of years ago he cited that cleary was tired and in need of rest.
fast forward to 2018 and the rumour is panfers want to lure ivan to penrif and in the process retain Nathan cleary.
you wouldn't want to be in a life raft with gould, would you?
He who speaks with forked tongue will get found out someday.Maybe this is it.

Good Theory, very political - wouldn't put it past Gould to play that way.

If nothing else the day has flown by, trying to keep up with reading all the posts.

Have had a few laughs along the way with some great vids and theories and meltdowns. I must admit since the news broke, i have lived all the emotions shown by fellow posters on here and have settled into Kay Sera Sera mode.

No guarantee that i will stay that way (lets see what the unfolds).

There would be no more feel good stories on the family jet, nathan and the rest of the family they parade around they'd get the checcin treatment.

Dont mess with the tig pies.

Maybe the silence from Ivan and West’s are because the finer points of his exit are being negotiated, cant be any other reason that us long suffering fans are still in the dark.

Just watching FOX and the bee sting head Gould interview this morning. He says he issued a twitter statement to Manly fans after the Barrett rumours last week, because Barrett was not going to Penrith and he wanted Manly fans to know…. and I quote..."we were not going to steal their coach"

.......but he is happy to try and steal ours.

If any of you think Gould is a good fella or a decent man or a rugby league guru, have another look. Swearing is banned on our forum so I cant call him the F or the C that I think he is! He is a grub. Filth. Scum.

It's a manifestation of how seriously a lot of the NRL world perceives us compared to other teams. Until we stop bending over backwards to release people under contract because they want to go to a "bigger" club we will always be seen as a club you take what you want from.

I'm glad to see Pascoe's comments. I'd be interested in knowing whether approaching a contracted coach has the same ramifications as approaching a contracted player.

The silence? You mean apart from Pascoe and Go saying he won't be released?

The bottom line is he can only go to Penrith if WT release him - for once i hope this club shows some bollocks and refuses a request for release should he ask for one. I don't care if we get the wooden spoon for the next 2 years that he is stuck here. His stocks would fall dramatically, Penrith and Gould would like like fools and in the eye of every other supporter of NRL Wests Tigers would be heroes for having the guts to tough it out.

I reckon if he asked for a release he would get one, the same way teams release players that don't want to be here. They can become destabilising, Go and Pascoe's statements can be looked at one of two ways. They can be doing it simply to say to the fans we did what we could but didn't want drama to infiltrate the playing group, or it could be a non story and they are saying it like it is.
I would like to think Ivan is a man of his words and principal but I have a funny feeling Gould will get his way, and we'll be left with the house half built.

None…Coaches and Clubs have no such obligations...

If Cleary does the dirty no great loss.
Tedesco the only "big loss" in recent years.
Addo-Carr also to a lesser extent.

Coach Cleary is a buddy of Tigers CEO Pascoe so if Cleary was let go from his contract 2 years early I assume there would be an exit strategy that would not leave the Tigers up that creek.

If the combination of Cleary, Gould & Pascoe sneakily **** the Tigers plans without offering any new plan B that would be dastardly.
"Nice Guys" Gould & Coach Cleary would suddenly become hated by many & also seen as dishonest, sneaky weasels.
If Cleary goes would like to see Brett Hodgson as the new coach with maybe Todd Payten as an assistant.

Although Tigers team (players) are still pretty average Cleary did release a lot of useless deadwood.

p.s even if Gould pulls this off don't be surprised if his ruthless tactics fail ie no Penrith comp win. Just takes one serious/long term injury to his son & the whole expensive gamble will deliver mountain misery.

Tigers footy is so boring I wouldn't mind if Cleary left after this season.
In Hodgo we trust!

LOL, meeting with Panthers officials while your team is getting absolutely walloped by the Dogs in a season-defining match. Thanks, Mr. Cleary

Disagree. It sends a message that we can be leaned on and we will crack. Proper clubs when asked to release people important to their success say no and expect the people to act professionally and get on with the job they were hired to do. Our reaction to things like the Kahu and Taupau situations are why someone like Gus thinks we're here for his shopping needs.
