Ivan Cleary - THREAD..

Isn't it ironic? The previous coach, with management support, "broke" Farah's contract. Now the new coach wants to break his own contract and all hell has broken loose from our management. What goes round comes round.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Show us where Ivan has requested to be released from his contract.

:roll

I boast that I am only reading about 1/50 of the posts on Ivan - I thought that was the general flow of what Ivan wanted.

3 days in and the club continues to stick to its guns. Ivan won’t address the speculation once he inevitably fronts the press, most likely at the Captain’s run. i’ll bet he plays his cards pretty close to his chest and gives us nothing. Which will only fuel the fire.

But It's all BS it hasn't come from Ivan's mouth lol

https://www.triplem.com.au/sport/nrl/news/battle-of-the-big-cats-the-ridiculous-contract-panthers-officials-are-expecting-ivan-cleary-to-sign?station=sydney

It may all prove to be factual and we are all then entitled to nail Mr Cleary to the cross.
But to hang my hat on what Daily Telegraph's Dean Ritchie’s of this world tell me …... please!

Regardless Ivan has had correspondence with Panthers and nutting out a deal with them .
Ivan is not talking to the Tigers about extending his future with us as he would of said so from the get go and shot down any possibility of him going to the Panthers straight away when Griffin got sacked and the media started with this all.
The truth will eventually come out .

What Correspondence?
How the hell do you know with any certainty who is talking to whom about what?
Yes the truth will eventually come out and only then will you and I know ….. and be able to make statements like the one you continue to make..... or eat humble pie.

The only thing that has been mentioned that has been from Cleary was when Go was asked why hadn't he come forward.

She said Ivan has said he is behind Pascoes and Go comments.

Nothing from him

Its strange because the media is usually all over us before a Raiders game talking about past floggings and there has been no talk of this weekends game from the media.

You know what, just get rid of him now. Milk them for everything. Reason being, at the end of 2020, players like Marsters and Twal come off contract, and could easily leave with him. However, if he leaves now, and we bring in a seasoned premiership winning coach like Maguire, that might give those players reason to stay. Unless, he extends, he’s completely toxic for to us for the next two years. Who knows who he could be planning to take with him.

So you guys think that when Ivan had a meeting with the Panthers 2 weeks ago it was nothing to do with the possibility of him returning to the Panthers ?
So why did Ivan tell Pascoe and Go on Monday night just before the Griffin sacking ? could it be that the truth might come out that he did have a meeting with the Panthers ?

Anyway i have my views of how things have transpired you guys make your own mind up.

But some say that there all rumours as Ivan hasn't said anything and that Ivan has done nothing wrong

I bet he tells the press he won't be answering questions in regards to the Penrith saga

That or Robbie has pointed out the exactly where that legendary hole in the fence is

I agree with you for Maguire he is a gun coach. He rebuilt Souths make no mistake. But his last years were impacted by Rusty and Richos Captains Calls. I know for a fact he was forced to select Robbie over Cook against his wishes.

I know a few posters have pointed out how he ran the Souths players ragged at training, I would guess he’s learned from his mistakes. He’s undoubtedly the best option available to us.

There is no way the club should extend Cleary. I’ve been a fan but was willing to give him leeway in his first year. We most likely don’t play finals this year. What if we don’t make finals next year and we now have him for 4 years. He has shown himself to have little integrity and if the club wasn’t playing hardball he would have walked out on us on Monday. So do we really want someone like that coaching our team? I know I don’t. Only here because his lawyer told him he has to be. Get as much compensation out of the panthers and move on. Ivan is now on his own bus heading up the m4 and good riddance.

He has shown himself to have little integrity …... Really? no clear evidence on that ....Jury still out.

There is no way the club should extend Cleary. ..... Maybe yes and maybe no. Depends how the final story pans out.

I’ve been a fan but was willing to give him leeway in his first year. ..... you haven’t given him much leeway that I can see.

We most likely don’t play finals this year. ...... first thing you said that you may be right on.

What if we don’t make finals next year and we now have him for 4 years. ........What is that all about? We probably will not with any other coach.

If the club wasn’t playing hardball he would have walked out on us on Monday. ..... Really? Source?

So do we really want someone like that coaching our team? ......... Yes because he is one of the best NRL coaches around.

I don’t. ...... OK but many others would.

Only here because his lawyer told him he has to be. ......... Really? source?

Get as much compensation out of the panthers and move on....... unlikely to happen. Panthers are a smart bunch who rely on lots of fake news which some people are all to eager to swallow.

Ivan is now on his own bus heading up the m4 and good riddance........ Really? I just today saw the bus parked at Concord. Getting ready for the journey to Canberra.

I feel flattered that you replied to every point I made, you’ve made me feel special, awwww.

Coach with integrity does not meet with the boss of a competitor. Doesn’t stay silent for days and days about this meeting and then conveniently tells his employer the day after griffin gets sacked. A coach with integrity would then come out and nip it on the butt and say he’s not going anywhere and he is fully committed to the club. Not hide behind Pascoe and Go’s threats of legal action and not releasing him.

If they extend him by another 2 years this means we have him for 4 years.

I haven’t shown him leeway? Go through my posts I’ve been one of his biggest supporters this year.

Get rid of him, he has lost all credibility. Get McGuire in, he has won a premiership, something Cleary hasn’t.

Good point re marsters and twal. Get as much compo as we can get and wave goodbye to him.

We are so quick to judge, we don’t even know the full story. I hope this circus will stop soon.

Players and coaches come and go, nothing new. I echo what everyone is saying about compensation. Get the best deal and we should be good for next season.

I appreciate our Club being Professional in how they have dealt with this thus far but when they finally realise that Ivan has acted dishonourably in line with his Contract commitments with the Tigers then they need to piss him off ASAP, i was Originally the thought of keeping him forcefully here but the reality is we are the ones putting ourselves 2 years behind and will hurt us more than it will hurt Penrith.
Try and get compensated as much as we can and move on at Seasons end , i don't blame the Club as they have done everything to support Ivan in giving him full control of the Club's affair .

Ivan has abused the trust that was given and has disrespected the Club , players , Sponsors , Members , fans.

Your a disgrace Ivan the sooner you go the better i will feel , the trust is broken there is no turning back from that…..you can remain silent all you like but there's enough there to suggest that you've made dealings with a rival Club while under Contract to us.

The water is getting muddy by the Day , go with your love child cause at the end of the Day you ain't no Bellamy and there's a reason why Gus sacked you in the 1st place cause you can't Coach team to Premierships , how romantic you and Gus deserve each other again .

Good riddance Ivan your done with me anyway .

I am coming round to this…..love your passion..

Been reading all of this and the one thing that has and will happen is what Cleary has to SAY! Everything else is just noise he said she said ,facts is where the truth is.
IMO Cleary has been thrown under the bus by Penrith as there seems to be a power struggle happening there , he had a meeting with a friend at the club big deal ! Are we that naive coaches do not get expressions of interests all the time while contracted to clubs. Why was this even made public?
If Cleary wants out that is fine no drama a good time to walk as the club has time to find one of the very well credentialed coaches on the market it will come with a 2 million price a million a season . Penrith have the money and if the need is so great they will pay it .
I want to hear from Cleary as the rest is just noise! Just remember we are talking about a coach with a 45% win ratio let’s not get to carried away with the emotional reaction here.
