Some people are off their rockers , how on earth would anyone say DWZ is a like for like swap to the Storm , Not happening

Is there a legit "like for like" swap out there? There is simply no one like JAC or, indeed, their other winger also.

Yeah if the dogs want to send cotric straight down to melbourne....

Actually.....that would make a lot of sense if Cotric was keen.

No knowledge at all of it...just me speaking as a footy fan...

But that would be the perfect deal for Melb.

Of course but he'd need to take a paycut to move down there.

Bulldogs reportedly in box seat to sign Storm grand final winger Josh Addo-Carr

The Bulldogs have become favourites to sign Storm winger Josh Addo-Carr, a new report says.

The Daily Telegraph reported that Addo-Carr was a big chance to play for a grand final opponent next season, with Panthers assistant Trent Barrett taking over as Canterbury head coach. Addo-Carr, the NSW Origin and Australian Test winger, is a Barrett fan.

Addo-Carr is seeking a move back to Sydney for family reasons. The Rabbitohs and Wests Tigers are also in the mix for his signature.

It has been reported that he wants to play fullback; it is unclear what position he may play at the Bulldogs. The struggling club has already signed Canberra winger Nick Cotric for next season, though he could play in the centres.

The Storm granted Addo-Carr a release on the proviso that it gained a comparable player in return from his new club. That sticking point will need to be worked out in the ongoing negotiations.

Addo-Carr is leaving all negotiations to his management, aiming to enjoy a winning farewell with Melbourne in the looming grand final.

"I made the decision to put all that stuff behind me and really focus on the finals series," he told The Sunday Footy Show.

"My manager and the Melbourne Storm are really working their backsides off to get this deal

What this report says to me (particularly with the Pom news) is that the Tigers have made the right offer, sounds about right. If the Dogs drop out of the clouds and poach him it is ONLY about $$$ and the Tigers are right and doing the right thing letting it go.

Wont stop a lot of hand wringing here about how terrible we are because we let another one slip, but at the end of the day, to me , the club is going about this in a professional manner.

Whilst I somewhat agree, if we miss out on JAC to the dogs, we will cop it in the press big time about how the club is a mess. I think the JAC signing has more riding on it for the club’s future than many people realise, miss another one and we will be highlighted as a club to avoid

Honestly, how could anyone possibly take a narrative that Tigers are a mess, if Addo-Carr joins Bulldogs?

Anyone joining Bulldogs shows that "being a mess" has nothing to do with it, because Bulldogs are the most disrupted and poorly-performing club going around. Broncos, at least, still have huge business in Brisbane and very solid support. Bulldogs have just gone through another board, sacked a coach and hired a new one who was sacked from his last appointment, were saved from the spoon only by F/A and have nothing doing in their spine for yet another year.

Bulldogs won 3 games in 2020. So people can run the "even Bulldogs can sign players why can't Tigers" line, but in making those signings Bulldogs have only being digging deeper and deeper holes for themselves, because they have been poorly-considered, badly funded signings, and the players who join are going backwards.

If you think we won't get bad press if we miss signing JAC you are delusional, the media will have a field day, lead by Creepy Crawly.
My point, the dogs who are a complete shambles sign players and we miss out, if that happens we are in for a rough ride for quite some time with the media.

Unfortunately, I totally agree. We don't have many friends in the media, if any. Braith doesn't do us any favours, the commentators in games barely mention us, and very rarely say anything positive about us, guys like Buzz and Crawley stick the boot in every chance they get. Maybe that one Chammas bloke at SMH, but that'd be it.

WT has had terrible recruitment for years, and though we think it's turning around under Madge, there's no results that indicate that yet. We finished lower this year than last year. We targeted (apparently) a few players within the last year, and lost out on most of them. How many players have gone to the Dogs in recent years, whereas we would have liked them? (Yes, I am not privy to whether WT actually offered contracts or were even in talks with them, but the media said we were, and the media says we were beaten for their signatures.)

DWZ, Nick Meaney, Hetherington, Corey Harawira-Naera. Add JAC to that list and you can bet they will emphasis our embarrassment.

Not trying to sound negative here...but we have missed a whole host of players at the final stage. DWZ and CHW were said to be as good as done. JAC now the same. It tends to suggest agents are using us to establish a price...then see if another club will match or beat the deal. It is a trend with us that things drag on. No other club would have let the LM saga go on for months. We probably need to just start saying "take it or leave it" or clearly see that the player 'wants' to come here. AD fairly obviously wanted to come back here.

Pretty obvious why DWZ went to the Bulldogs - they offered him alot more than we were prepared to pay and I would say we were better off for that.

I see a lot of people talking about it but has anyone actually read that rothfield dribble ? Hilarious to consider that a rumour. He literally said I think he’ll end up at dogs because Souths said they don’t want him and he doesn’t think he’s keen on us. No quotes, no rumours, nothing. Just a stupid bias old hack who doesn’t have a good thing to say about us. Pure crap

It is worth noting that the Cleary did not rate DWZ and the group also did not like him. Barret is coming straight from Penrith, so he would be well up to speed on the reasons Penrith wanted him gone.

One thing other clubs do MUCH better than us with players they want to move on is they basically tell them "you will be in state cup for years". Look at Ricky Stuart, who has openly said he threatens players with years of meaningless footy.

We really should be a lot of tougher...we have told so many players they are not wanted the past couple of years, but they all stay in the squad.

So, Dogs will likely be ruthless with this. I can't see them getting JAC unless DWZ is offloaded. Let's hope no one bites.

Jason Taylor got hammered for that when he suggested Robbie would be in reggies because he was trying to get rid of him. So its ok if its a player who everyone dislikes but if its a player who is cuasing problems and is on big money but the fans like him then we will sack the coach.

think this whole situation is out of our hands at the moment, and we need to just be patient until after grand final to see how this all plays out. if it's true that Melbourne have signed Jennings then that should allow us to sign JAC for 2021, but things may well drag on past November 1.

Wasn't Farah the Origin hooker at the time? It's a bit rough to be dropped in that scenario.

First: Panthers - numerous sex and Covid scandals last 18 months, poached a coach under contract
Second: Storm - systematic cheats, stripped of titles
Third: Eels -systematic cheats, stripped of premiership points
Fourth: Roosters - nothing to see there

Can we try unprofessional?

yea true - but he wasn't being looked at for his football ability - it was his huge contract abd supposedly de stabilising influence. I'm just making the point that its not that easy to just move a player on for any given reason.

I have never claimed to have sources, but I do have a mate at the Dogs who does. He has been in and around their sponsors for ages. He says their new sponsors see themselves as the new Politis....they are very active in recruitment, whining and dining players and agents personally. They brought Burton's family down. They are apparently very slick and popular with players. Run a series of pubs. They want deals done and are very aggressive. Take all of that however you want.

That is all pretty much public knowledge.
