Apparently they are paying Flanagan a mint. Surely they can’t get JAC as well. We have to go hard for this.

Bit surprising considering he was on around 300k at the roosters

Thought they said on 360... 3 yrs for a million

If bulldogs can offer them a player and we can’t then they are in the box seat unfortunately.

Sounds like he’d be the perfect fit not only for his on field talent but his presence off the field

Not necessarily. He still has to want to go. There could easily be a player merry go round.

Sounds like he’s letting his manager handle it whcih means he’s interested in the money And getting a good deal and dogs have money

We can offer just as much money as the dogs can I’m fairly sure. Unless they offer him a mil a season I’m pretty sure we can keep up with them price wise

We’re doing that deal where he has to play a certain amount at fullback to earn more. I see dogs giving him that money either way which would be a more favourable option. Our deal is good though

I'm still not sold on giving up a player to sign another, especially if we are not the new players preferred destination.

If it’s the only way to sign a player like JAC we at least need to entertain the idea of it especially now that other clubs are in for him

Not if we are not his 1st preference, if he has desire to play elsewhere a trade shouldn't even be considered.

Shouldn't matter where JAC's replacement comes from. That said, and from what I've seen of Smith, he's pretty ordinary. Storm wanted Nofoaluma. Nofo is a better player than Smith every day of the week. Our 4 year deal is still, apparently, the only formal offer JAC's people have got. Dogs will most likely run down table next year with a coach whose only NRL head coaching gig to date ended in tears. I think we're still a fair chance!

Seems like it but we don’t know what’s exactly happening. It could be changed

I think we are THE chance. Tigers are the only team apparently who have tabled an offer. I doubt dogs have the money to counter our offer but they have someone to give in return and that's the one thing they have over us which unfortunately is the one thing Storm want. I'm just worried we might be a little late to some of the bigger names.

he can still accept our offer for 2022, and the dogs take him for a year while shedding smith....only go there for one season.

something like that wouldn't suit the dogs and their rebuilding. Realistically people are only going to go there for the money. Watch Cotric's career plateau or regress....lot of coin though

Don’t think he can sign until November for 2022 contract

Josh Addo-Carr says he plans on updating his Melbourne Storm premiership tattoo on the left side of his stomach ''as soon as I'm out of the bubble''.

But it could be a good few years - if at all - before he adds any more artwork to his torso given the two Sydney clubs he has been linked with, the Wests Tigers and Canterbury, are unlikely to challenge for the title any time soon.

Bellamy says current Melbourne side not as talented as previous teams

Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy says this year's team isn't as talented as previous Storm sides.

The winger will celebrate with his Storm teammates a few days before he leaves them for good to join the NSW Origin squad and thrash out where he will play in 2021.

Addo-Carr said a ''fair few clubs'' had contacted his management about coming on board before all negotiations were put on ice a few weeks ago so he could focus on the NRL finals.

Regardless of where he ends up, Addo-Carr knows he will have to re-adjust his expectations because ''no other team is like Melbourne''.

"Hopefully it will be in the next couple of years,'' Addo-Carr said about a third title. "I know I'll be doing my best. Wherever I go I'll try to teach the younger fellas to be good footy players.

"It definitely won't be the same [because] no other team is like Melbourne. No other team is from Melbourne. I've definitely grown as a player and I'd like to think I'm an experienced player now ... I'd like to share my experience with other rugby league players to see them grow and thrive.''

Addo-Carr himself said his management had received healthy interest from Sydney clubs, and he remained open to making the switch from wing to fullback.

The Tigers are happy to play Addo-Carr in the No.1 jersey and were seen as the front-runners before negotiations were put on ice so the winger could focus on the NRL finals. The Storm have also made it clear they want a like-for-like replacement before officially granting Addo-Carr an early release.

Canterbury have also shown genuine interest and utilising him as a fullback. The Dogs are far from settled on the custodian role after also selling the fullback dream to Charlie Staines before he stayed put at Penrith.

Addo-Carr is a proud Indigenous man and grew up around South Sydney, and while the Rabbitohs are about to part ways with James Roberts, they are already well-stocked for outside backs.

The 25-year-old leaves Melbourne with fond memories of the club, players and coach Craig Bellamy, who ''turned me into the player I always dreamed of being''.

"I'm obviously going to miss the club and miss these boys - I've won two premierships here and nobody can take that away from me,'' Addo-Carr said. "I'm player No. 176, no one can take that away from me. I'm glad I've done my part for this club. I've played my part and given my everything for the club.

"There are a fair few clubs that my manager has spoken about to me. It will definitely be Sydney or anywhere close to Sydney. I'm excited to move back to be honest. I've been down in Melbourne for four or five years now. I moved down to Melbourne for my family, and it's time to move back for my family.''

Wanted to bring up “the reading the play” Twitter post from a few days ago saying that we signed JAC weeks ago. Anyone know his story or history? Wondering if he actually does get good mail.

Also been wondering if this JAC situation will be sorted before origin or if it’ll drag out even further.

you'd hope he would sign before he goes into origin camp...otherwise it's another month...

Imo, if he says he wants to wait until after Origin, then forget it, he's stringing us along. Hope to have it sorted very soon.

Anyone thinking that Remis Smith is the player that Melbourne want to release JAC, has not watched him play. He is bog average and no better then any winger we have. George Jennings is a much better winger. We are the only ones with an offer on the table. If he wants to come tigers then he is already ours. If he is another LM then we are being played to get more money out of either the dogs or most likely the Rabbitohs.

Got that LM debacle feel about it now. I think give him a deadline and be prepared to move on if he doesn’t accept it.

I thought the same when they signed Brenko Lee..now a Premiership winner..

Deadlines are hard when it is out of the players control as well.
