Josh Addo-Carr set to remain at Melbourne Storm in 2021
By Michael Chammas
November 12, 2020 — 4.55pm

Josh Addo-Carr is set to remain at Melbourne in 2021 after his manager met with the Wests Tigers on Thursday afternoon and outlined a preference for the winger to remain at the Storm next season.

It’s understood Addo-Carr has vowed to honour the heads of agreement he signed with the Wests Tigers to join the club in 2021 if he is released from the Storm, however it appears he won’t be departing the premiers just yet.

With Cameron Smith expected to hang up the boots, the Melbourne Storm may be in a position to use some of the money they had in reserve to bump up Addo-Carr’s $375,000 salary in 2021.

It’s expected the Storm will increase Addo-Carr’s deal to about $500,000, still short of the $550,000-$600,000 the Tigers were willing to pay him each season of the four year deal they posed.

Addo-Carr is off contract with the Storm after next season, with the Tigers likely to turn their attention to securing his services in 2022 following the indication that he is likely to remain at Melbourne.

More to come

A part of an law article:

“Many people believe that heads of agreements are non-binding documents and make the mistake of signing them without getting legal advice. However, heads of agreements can be a contract which is enforceable by the parties to it”

Would the nrl really allow a contracted player to sign something enforceable before November 1? That’s not allowed

It’s not allowed to sign a playing contract but this HOA is more of, if you do get a release from your current playing contract then you agree to play with Wests Tigers.

That would of helped JAC as well, he would of had security of work if it went belly up.

So he’s got a preference to stay in Melbourne but if he gets a release he’ll join Tigers? That’s pretty pointless considering he doesn’t want a release by the sounds of it.

Oh well. Don’t sign Mansour please

..... so many contradictions in this that I almost had to take my shoes off to count them all.

Time we all moved on to much energy being wasted here ... the guy has another option for 2022 obviously the club needs to look at players that actually want to be at our club .
No ones fault the club tries it will change in time !

Time to move on.

Sign more young players like Daine Laurie, stop wasting time on these hugely expensive egos and reputations.

Luai, Crichton, Burton and a new breed of juniors will be available 2022 with more upside and less baggage.

There’s plenty of good players to sign for 2022 so even if we didn’t get him for then (which seems likely) there’s heaps of other guys to spend money on

So he’s knocking us back in 2021, yet somehow we still think we’re a chance for 2022? Yeah, nah

#MightyAngus

He fits the bill for a Tigers player

Has 9 fingers

Couldn’t even start for the worst team in the comp and was getting beaten out for a wing spot by a centre. Kidding yourself
