That is great to hear, but I do not see you guys around the old pacific highway, or going through the national park on a Sunday morning.
Are there many corners at the KFC?
Mate if you ride, you look for corners and away from the cars.
Sorry if I offend you, but I grew up in the outer west, Riverstone actually, and we used to ride our bikes up the Putty Rd, still do this, to the Hunter valley.
Is that what you guys do?

My nephew heads up on those winding rides quite often and since he got a dog, it is almost always with him in a cradle on his back with his own pair of doggles on.

Used to love hitting the curves back when points weren't an issue, trying to double the speed advisory signage on either two or four wheels. Silly in hindsight, but we are all young once and glad I made it through.

Finally I have worked this out, I live in Enmore & on the weekend I corned a few guys who were out and about on their variously aged BMW. It seems that young folks ride around the city from designate cafe, kfc etc
Get up a sparrows fart and get out of the city & put a few hundred km's on your bike riding around the coast or hills.
Why would you do that?
Was their response.

I am still doing that at 62, the brotherhood are very strong on looking at for the cops, I have not been booked on the bike for years; the car well another issue.
The new bikes now are amazing, they stop, handle and go like nothing I every had when I was younger.
I am still riding a twin Triumph, but water cooled, fuel injection, 1200cc, huge Brembo brakes and the latest European suspension. All from the factory, just amazing and 192kg dry!!

Each to their own but....... I find it hard to understand having a bike an not using it on open road.

Used to do the Royal National Park loop from Padstow on a regular basis on my old BW r100/7 (before it got stolen - still waiting for the day to find the b 🙁 )
Love riding my R1200Gs now on tar/ dirt roads but my love is still my 79 Honda XL500, which I've had over 40 years.

Did a couple of trips b4 orders closed. One to India - Delhi, Spiti Valley, Leh, Srinagar, the Cliffhanger Road etc) on 350 Bullets; and north of Vietnam (clockwise loop from Hanoi including Ta Xua, Sapa, Dong Vanh, Ma Pi Leng Pass on Honda 125s. Can't wait to go back again if international travel is ever on the cards again.
Heaps of videos of the rides in India and Vietnam plus rides around NSW, Brisbane region if you're interested on my YouTube channel.

That's riding, I have done Phillip Island a few times, had a memorable get off and wrote off my lovely little TRX, nice bike; but I have never gone adventure riding.
My riding now consists of Sunday blasts on the Thruxton R , which I love. So light and chuck able into corners, with amazing brakes & suspension. I really should get a adventure bike; but I barely have time to ride the Thruxton.

Always wanted a TRX but couldn't get the accountant to approve it.
If you are thinking the adventure road, get a smaller one first - no more than a 500 - 700 to get the feel for dirt. Mate had a DR4300 and loved it on dirt but sold it because he wanted more road speed. Bought a DR650 loves it ont he road but now wishes he had the 400 for dirt 🙂
The 1200 is a big bike on dirt roads and very exxie to repair.
