Jackson Hastings #251

Lock is as important as halves these days

Look at the difference Murray for Souffs or Yeo makes for Penrith
They get a lot of credit but they are both very good players in star studded teams. I doubt they move the needle that much in our team. We need damaging ball runners.

Not sure if I’m reading into it too much but Hastings posted a story on Instagram wearing his tigers training jersey captioned “Soon 🕰 “

Cryptic message saying he is re-signing soon?

I’d say cryptic message saying he will be back on the field soon but I hope I’m wrong

Missed tackles is an overrated stat. Maloney missed the most tackles almost every year he played NRL, yet he won everywhere he went.
Depends how you miss them. If you make 50 but miss 5, it is likely you are being targeted and fatigue played a role. If you are missing them through poor technique and/or attitude - such as lack of desperation, then that’s just incompetence and it should be highlighted.

And the other key point is where you miss them. Big difference between missing one on halfway( although at times that can lead to a line break)vs inside the 10 on your own goal line.

An early miss tackle around halfway can often lead to a try as it started the rot.
This happened a lot with the tigers this year. Simply put...if you miss a tackle, it puts strain on the rest of the team.
We also have a habit of running 45⁰ from both markers and basically back peddling. I was taught the first marker runs at right angles and be prepared to tackle around the legs whilst the second marker runs the 45. Things have changed obviously.
Now back to Jackson Hastings 👍

And for all the slagging he got he rarely let us down. Solid finisher.

And?
This post was made in reply to an outlandish statement that Sheens has "ALWAYS" Preferred Big, Strong, Backs....
Sheens - You know, The guy that Played Beau Ryan and Fitzy on the Wing...

Both maybe many things - But Big and Strong aren't 2 of them...
Neither was height or speed for that matter - Something else almost considered essential for a Winger.
