It's all about growing the team, these bloke are solid but haven't lived up to the hype. We can and are doing better.

Yep, i think AD would make a great Captain but in 2022 he could be out for half the season.

Also think Steph might make a good leader in the future, maybe a VC in a couple of years.

I'd say they'll will make a call after Doueihi comes back. Start the year with hastings (7), Brooks (6), then if hastings is going great guns, let brooks move at the end of the year.

It’s Hastings 6, Brooks 7. Sheens pretty much confirmed it. You don’t have to like it, but it needs to be accepted by a large number of people that their opinion of Brooks being on his last legs is not how the club sees it.

I've always had a massive dislike for Hastings because of his ability to be right near trouble always. When he signed with us, I thought it might be desperation .

So far, what I have seen and heard in the last 6 months... I am happy to accept I was wrong and it appears he has changed his ways. Genuine people who take ownership of their own faults and improve get my absolute respect.

My mind is changing rapidly. It might be a mutually beneficial relationship with WT!.

Two sides to the coin...

Seems Brooks' has always had built in excuses for why his performance have been so abysmal over the years, from its Benji and Robbie's faults , Grant overcalls and plays a more dominant game that puts Brooks back in his shell, AD is too controlling and a ball hog and then the pack is too weak for him to be able to get the ball rolling...

I think the 2023 pack and a decent 9 like Api would really allow Brooks to be around the "right people" to succeed....

Also all honesty, I think Liddle is a big issue with why Brooks is so bad of late. That kid isn't up to standard. Makes a few good breaks for himself but his game is as basic as it gets. Hooker is such an important position and if Brooks isn't getting good ball from the 9, he's constantly disadvantaged from the jump...

Anyway, not looking to turn another thread into a Brooks discussion.... either he goes to Newy in 2023 or he has a team in 2023 that will allow him to finally play around players that will ensure he shines, no excuses.

Whatever happens, happens.

Have you been hanging out with @GNR4LIFE ? I'm starting to get that pre-season positivity. I think we all know who will be right in this situation and it won't be me.

We'll be a different team in 2022. Hastings MASSIVE upgrade on Walters, the Peach is an upgrade on Mbye, You can count on at least one of Gildart, Junior Tupou or Cotric if we get him being a better centre than BJ, literally anyone (including old mate from Newcastle) will bring more to the side than Packer. Our gains are a lot better than our losses, in both ability and attitude.

Absolutely. I am quietly hopeful that there will be a significant team attitude change with the addition of these new players, Sheens and new assistant coaches, which will bring out the best of some players who clearly underperformed last year.

Taking emotions and preferances out, who would demand more money in the marketplace ? Brooks or Doueihi ? Brooks was solid if not brilliant, and AD was also not a world beater, contrary to some on this site. Both have to lift their games to be rated as quality 1st gde halves.
