Jackson Hastings #251

How does this excuse some of Brooks dud passes on the weekend ?

It doesn't excuse anyone for anything...

What it may bring to light, Is that he's human - And WE all make mistakes....
I've also seen him throw a plenty of peaches in his time
(Last week was a couple no one is complaining about)
Also saw him run away try to level the game up, Then win it with a field goal...

Maybe we should all live in a world where everything is so perfect that the few bad things must be hammered home over the couple of game changing (Winning) things that happen in a highly intense professional environment.

I much prefer the Brooks playing eyes up footy and stuffing up compared to the Brooks playing to structure and stuffing up.
It’s been 2 weeks. His whole career he has been in the mindset of a halfback. If you watch again, he is playing like second fullback now. It will take a while for those combinations and plays to stick when you’ve gone from playing static to playing off a run.
So far he has nailed 3 opportunities for 3 tries. I think it’s time to give him a bit of space.

I wouldn’t be changing the 7 & 6 around if Hastings and Brooks play like that consistently
Man it's so good to see.

I have been screaming at us to "Get Brooks out of 7!", along with many others on this forum. Not fire Brooks, ok if we must fire him fire him, but man he is an awesome Tiger, awesome talent and I want us to keep him. So very glad he looks to be a good 6.

For heaven's sake, keep him out of 7! Brooks is NOT a half, just has the wrong personality and I have no idea why it's taken so long for people to finally realize this.

You obviously haven't been watching the incumbent Australian halfback lately?
Funny - Every half in the comp throws a dud pass - Most more than a few a game....
They win, The world goes on...

Brooks does it - He gets tied to a stake and everyone is grabbing the jerry can and matches...
It's beyond a joke.
Those who are overly critical on those passes have either not played the game or have never paid attention to the job of a playmaker. He is trying to create space and isolate defenders for the next man, and it went wrong. It happens. If you don't attempt those passes, you'll never create any panic in the opposition's defence.

The reason those passes go to ground is because Brooks is reacting to what the defenders are doing. He expected something different to happen so the receiver ended up running the wrong line and the pass missed its mark.

As a team, you graciously accept those errors because you know that eventually he is going to get it right and create points for you.

Take the hatred hat off. Probably one of the in form five eighths in the Comp over the past fortnight
I'm not saying he's been bad, I think saying we have the best halves combo in the competition is over the top haha

He found the grass with at least 5 passes against Souths and Eels but he did throw some nice ones too. He's been solid, still not living up to his price tag.

They compliment each other well, And as an overall monetary value - They're on par with most clubs...
Both need to be extended for a couple more years on closer to market value for both.
Extending brooks would be a massive mistake - it's two weeks of half decent football. Would be insane to extend him based purely off that.

Hastings for sure needs to be extended if he keeps his form up. Hastings is setting records for the amount of touches in a game for a halfback while Brooks is touching the ball less than he has in about 6 years, funny how that makes us better.

You are saying that like it's a bad thing

If Hastings unlocks Brooks and we keep winning, I see no issue tbh. Isn't it a team sport?
I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all but Hastings is saying Brooks was our best player in the last two games which quite simply isn't true, he's just trying to help Brooks.

Nothing wrong with it I just wouldn't take what he says as gospel haha

Pumping him up.

I get what you're saying.
Trying to make Brooks feel safe and secure.

Jackson is taking this team to the next level.
All on his own back.

He's a true leader and the Brooks support he's showing on a personal level is really working.

Its great.

Just look at the amount of touches he's having per game - over 100 times against Souths which is massive for a halfback

He is in complete control and putting the team on his back. Brooks is doing fine off the back of it but it's not like only Brooks could play that role, Doueihi could easily slot in and do a better job.
