Jackson Hastings #251

Which to me says Hastings was fine at 7.
I have to say that there is a heap of speculating and panic from some .....
Everyone can have their favourite player playing in their favourite position....
Hastings has been given an opportunity to play back in the NRL by the WTs,he may well be dissapointed that Madge was sacked or he may have also been spotted by Sheens when he was in England and was promised something that hasnt came to fruition,I have no idea as Im not privy to any info whatsoever from inside the club...
Having said that,in my opinion as a member, supporter and fan of this club, the team played very well when Hastings played in the 7,he lead and organised the team around the park, something that has been missing for awhile..
for all the great players on this forum,I can say that speed doesnt always win you the game but footy smarts does...Hastings has smarts that we desperately need, but if he choses to leave, then thats up to him...and Im a fan of his....

No doubts Hastings has faults as a player but he is the closest thing we have had to an organising half back in the last decade.

I agree and maybe how bad as a team we played impacted how effective he was in 22 & it lead to him over playing his organization activities.

I did though think his best performances were at lock for us.

Is organising half another word for ball hog?

Really, what does organising half actually mean? It's just a term that sounds good, how many 40/20 did he do or players to turn the game around?
Tony I have to really give you a wake up pill mate...Brooks has been with us for 10 years.he cant guide a team around the park if his life depended on it,he has great defense and is quick....big deal...he kicks out on the full, doesnt drive the players forward and is a bit to scared to yell at his mates...guess what its his job...
Hastings has been with us 1 season and half of that he was injured,he guides the players around, can kick goals, yells at players that arent in position such as the great NOFFA and yet you want to be critical of him because he isnt YOUR favourite player...he has been a breathe of fresh air in a position we were lacking 1/2 back skills...now Im no NRL player but have played the game in group level and I can tell you that the passion for your club, the will to win and being a team player wins more games than loyalty..
Sorry if I deflated you but this is a PROFESSIONAL sport that should be played by Professionals not club favourites....Benji,Farah,Sheens....lets go back another 20 stepsand take 1 forward...

We were chatting about Hastings playing lock and he said that…..I reckon he is spot on…some people can’t handle the truth..
He may be spot on. But there are 2 issues here.

1) He's the leader of the organization and said it behind his back. If he's going to say it, it's to his face in private.

2) Pascoe doesn't get to say anything that can impact the team, including putting a player down, while also saying he is at arm's length of the footy club. If he wants to comment, then he can take accountability too.

I always laugh when people suggest that a halfback has to organize first grade footballers where to be on the field or what to do. How funny is that.
I think most coaches these days give the team a few spots on the field to get to and then allow their best players to play eyes up footy. The days of excessive structure are gone. The playmakers need to be able to read the play and pick the most appropriate play for the moment. It’s very unorganised.

I get what your saying, but think Jackson's stats or achievements were not as great as pundits on socials make him out to be.

Yes he touches the ball a lot and barks orders but then what?

Seems to me people saw the term "organising half" on social media and think it must be true and run with it.

I only saw him live one game this year. He was the only player shouting to his teammates telling them where to run, where to be. The second game I watched no- one was doing this. He's a leader.

Realistically if the club doesn't view him as a 7 ethically they should just release him pretty unfair to turn him into a tough 13, body changes ect if he's not mentally up to it just let him go.

Again tho, would want a replacement half as depth. We haven't really replaced madden ?
