I thought they signed Drinkwater from Manly instead of Miller, maybe not?

uh-oh!

A glowing endorsement from Gareth Ellis has Hull FC poised to snap up young halfback Jacob Miller over Gold Coast Titans captain Scott Prince, despite objections from his ex-club Wests Tigers.

Former Tigers backrower Ellis has linked with the English Super League club after four NRL seasons and wasted no time stating his preference following Hull's offers to Prince and Miller.

Junior Kangaroos half Miller has suddenly emerged as the top option after Prince met with coach Peter Gentle but failed to commit to a three-year offer.

Miller, the NSW Under 20s captain, blossomed in Wests Tigers' junior ranks, impressing Ellis.

"I spoke with Jacob Miller before I left about the speculation surrounding him and a possible move to my new club Hull FC," Ellis told the Hull Daily Mail newspaper.

"As far as I'm concerned, the move would be great for him.

"His path to the first team (at the Tigers) is blocked by a couple of very good halfbacks like Benji Marshall which has restricted his first-grade appearances (to five games).

"When I spoke to him he was very keen to come over to England and was looking forward to it.

"I told him a move to Super League would be great for him but it's not for me to advise him."

Wests Tigers recruitment manager Warren McDonnell hoped Miller's future lay at the NRL club after the appointment of new coach Mick Potter.

"Jacob has another year left to run on his contract here and I don't think a move to Hull FC will be happening," he said.

"The chances of a move might have been better earlier in the season, but there is a new coach here now and Mick wants him to stay.

"He is an impressive kid with a bright future ahead of him."

I know a contract doesn't mean much in rugby league these days but somewhere along the line wouldn't Wests Tigers have to grant Miller a release from the last year of his contract? And any attempt for any club to have him play with them in 2013 could be halted immediately by the Tigers by refusing to let him go?

Yea prince is going but he has to wait for the coach and CEO of the titans to return from holidays to negotiate his terms and payout of the final year of his contract with the titans

Would be my side.

no room for quite a couple of last years regulars ,its a good squad on paper please please please give Miller the crack at 7 and persist …Moltz will only make the 17 if he is in sensational form so thats a plus .

so princey is off to UK now? im sure his wife is well impressed with that move, especially after making him leave us to head back to qld. "enjoy the sunshine darling…"

Hopefully WT's don't play the line "We/Jacob recieved an offer that was too good to knock back". Now that Prince has rejected them it's almost certain they'll ramp up a bid for Jacob and even though the club says he's staying there's a part of me that thinks what if the offer is really THAT good??

surely miller who has been held back to develop his game will want to stay and prove himself at the tigers…. i dont think he was ready when givin his limited opportunitys but possibly learnt abit from the exerience....
I remember just as much hype on a young kid for the gold coast... he was basiclly thrown to the lions....
I believe the tigers have been very brave in millers development.... they will reap the benefits...

Auditions begin today for the vacant Gold Coast Titans No. 7 jersey but there could be a surprise bolter, with the club ramping up their bid to snare Wests Tigers youngster Jacob Miller.

Jordan Rankin, Beau Henry and new signing Albert Kelly will get the chance to stake their claims for the No.7 jersey, while five-eighth Aidan Sezer is also another option to shift into Prince’s empty shoes.

But Mullumbimby product Miller is shaping as another candidate.

The Titans have room to move in the salary cap after releasing Prince, Dominique Peyroux (New Zealand Warriors) and Brenton Lawrence (Manly Sea Eagles) last week.

They don’t have enough cash to convince Trent Hodkinson to leave the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs but they are assessing their options with Penrith Panthers youngster Harry Siejka also on their radar.

Brad Murray, the young Parramatta Eels playmaker embroiled in the Ryan Tandy betting scandal, has also been floated to the Titans.

Interesting. I think the Tigers would definitely consider it a little more now given they know more about Miller, especially Potter. Either way, Potter is in a better position to gauge where Miller sits in his plans than he was back when he took over. Based on from where we all sit, it wouldn't be a surprise if it was to happen. It would take away an option for us this season but it would also allow for short term option such as Anasta or Moltzen to come in and take reins whilst Brooks develops.

Maybe it is in Miller best interest to go to England and develop his game and come back a better player. Look at Sam Moa for Easts. Unknown before England now starting ahead of Henderson, etc.

We don't need to offshore Miller to make that scenario happen….

I'm sure Potters lineup for the Broncos will mean alot in determining where Miller sits in the pecking order. If Jacob doesn't get selected then he would have to consider himself 3rd or 4th choice halfback and maybe England should be an option.
Alternatively if Potter wants to keep him even just as a 3rd string halfback then I'd imagine he would pick him to keep Hull away.
I've also been wondering where Potter see's Sironen. He may have only started the season with Miller knowing Sirro wasn't available and to give Miller a crack until Sirro returns.
We will certainly learn alot about Potters plans come team selection time for our next game.

Miller not picked for Broncos game shows that he hasn't produced the goods for potter, to date anyway. He needs to have a blinder in Reggies.
