Sure, but were still paying 200-250k cap for Sullivan I thought.

Which is my point. I don't mind paying 900k to keep an 800k player. Because we need a solid option as our fullback.
Yes the Sharks got Kennedy for super cheap. Conner Tracey is likely taking massive unders at the Dogs...
But if we offer them fair market value, say 500k.. We have a 500k fullback instead of an 800k value fullback.

We loose far more off crap signings where we let them go soon after signing, then we loose off paying/over paying for talent we want to keep.

Sullivan has been released from the final year of his tigers contract, so they aren't paying anything for him next year.

I think the very annoying situation of contributing to a player at another club is nearing - or at - zero. From memory I can only think possibly Bateman could still be in this category.

I'd likely be in the camp who'd value Bula higher than most, but as long as he doesn't get to the stage where he is asking for ridiculous money, I'd rate him as worth the investment of $900k for 3 or 4 years.

I really think he is going to continue to get better each year, and it wouldn't surprise me that if this were to happen, $900k in a few years' time won't seem as much as it does now.

I am wary though, that the combination of a good player becoming a great player (or even just brainwashed to think his worth is higher than it is...) at the tigers whilst having Moses sniffing around is a perfect storm with far too much precedent to have confidence they'll keep them long term.

I really like Bula and he seems like a pretty decent young man, but frankly anyone who's been a tigers supporter for any amount of time would be naive to have 100% faith any great player would see out the entirety of his contract.

NRL contracts surely have to be up there with the worst in world sport.
 
With Bula you put a fair/generous offer on the table. If he accepts great, if he dose not, you move on

It’s not all bad news if he moves on because it one less Moses contract on our books. I don’t have a problem with a kid getting maximum dollars, even if it’s with a rival club, I do when a guy like Moses is white anting our club to get a client to walk

Is it him confirming his stay
Is it Bulla confirmed new deal or take up his option
Or is it both , both seems not likely as it would be big news for the club and probably want to milk good news stories separately, Bulla one week Luai the next , or is there a player joining us nobody expected , one more sleep and all is revealed ,

I saw the photo of Luai, he is photogenic. What finger was he using?
 
I like Bula but writings on the wall with Attard signing. He and Edgar are stars at Panthers they couldn’t keep both. I see Bula playing out the next two years before making a call. He’s on good money and the time to negotiate is 2027/8 year for all players that is.

Probably right but the destructive poison pill Issac Moses gets in their head and tells them they are worth 1 mill and he gets Zip if player or club options are simply taken up .He needs brand new contracts

If you are confident Bula is good enough to help us become a top 4 team within the next couple of years then we pay him whatever it costs to keep him.
Ink and yourself among a few others seem to want to have a crack at whoever doubts Bula is a good enough player to help us become a top 4 team, therefore all us others will remember that and hold you accountable if we don’t improve over the next couple of years.
