Jahream Bula #269

If we take up our option for 2027 mosses gets zero the same as this year he gets zero , so to make money he needs a new contract and would go all out to get Bulla a early release same as Galvin , this process would be a repeat of last year and destroy our season same as last year

You realise there are two different players involved right?

Looks like Jaxon Purdue is about to re-sign with cows so one less option if Bula dips
I said it before and I’ll say it again, Purdue would not have turned us down if offering him a million dollars per season and he has far bigger star quality and x-factor than what Bula has.
I think we are trying very hard to be loyal and keep this current group of players together which is very admirable, I just hope it doesn’t backfire on us.

Purdue is a very good player and had we recruited him, it should be to strengthen our backline while retaining Bula.

We couldn’t afford them both, it would have been a case of one or the other if we were interested in him.
The solidarity of keeping the current group of players together could be a master stroke if it comes off, but if Bula does depart and we are too late in pursuing a high quality replacement , it would leave a bit of uncertainty as to whether we have a genuine superstar replacement from within.
The next couple of months will be intriguing for all Wests Tigers fans as we could be riding the crest of a wave or we could be in dire straits.

Exactly man…

Also, he needs the player on board to act in the way Galvin did last year … I don’t see Bula stooping to those levels … could be wrong
He pays Mr 6 % for a reason..so Im not optimistic, particularly if we take up club option Moses gets nothing
We need to entangle these quality players to WTs culture etc
We apparently havent done that
\ Well see,but fear the worst

I just don’t see Bula using the Moses playbook to force his way out of his deal early …it requires a little bit of effort if the club wants to keep you… if he knocks on Benji’s door with a Manila folder under his arm look out I guess …

If he doesn't sign before the start of the year i would hold off for a couple of rounds and the implement the club option if his form warrants it. Moses might find it a little more difficult getting him across to the dogs early under the new anti tampering rules.

How can he sign with the dogs the mutual options don't expire till mid-May, he can talk to other clubs but that's it, Tigers could just take up the club option so no deal can be signed elsewhere until we pass on it.
This is the fact getting lost in the discussion. He probably has had offers from us and elsewhere. Even if he has 'decided' now he is leaving, he can't sign elsewhere until Round 10.
My opinion (and it is purely speculative) is we won't hear anything until about round 6 as he will want to earn a pay rise with early form. If we're winning games he is likely to stay and if we're not he won't.

Doesn't moses get his cut if the contract is restructured ? Legally probably not until the length of the old agreement runs out
Its on the shoulders of his client, moses would be biting at the bit to break the contract to get his cut.
Whatever will be will be. Bula has been treated very well by the club since he arrived, made more money than his value every step of the way.
Played a season and a 1/2 in Reggies , with an option to not defend or attack, watch ,educate yourself on the nuance of the game .
And by all reports he did very little to get commentators questioning his role at the club - doubting Sheens call on him .
Being a quiet christian boy doesn't automatically fill his life with being morally strong

I think he's a totally different person to Galvin...he will see out 2026,and if we take up option will likely do the rite thing
But Moses will be fuming as he won't make a cent, and will be in his ear no doubt
