Jahream Bula #269

If the reports are true that he's chasing 950k that's getting into the range of elite money, I would expect much better defensive efforts for that coin.
Fair enough. Each tackle needs to be assessed on its own.

Dylan Edwards got run over by a teenager last night and I’m sure he’s on good coin.

Bula’s D has never been a major concern for me, normally someone else has stuffed up if he’s trying to save a try.

What do we all think of Attard thus far? Obviously the Tigers contingency plan if Bula extension doesn’t come to fruition
Jack Attard looks decent enough young fullback prospect as does Logan Brookes.
I don’t think Attard is a realistic NRL option just yet, but when discussing Bula and contingency plans we could realistically spend around 1 million dollars per season on a replacement if required, so for that money it would be a proven high class player, not a rookie.

Or there’s nobody really available and you end up with a Tuimoala Lolohea type signing.

At least he is always there - that in itself says he is good positionally and not lazy.

I'm a huge Bula fan. But in those situations when he is getting across to the man he needs to learn to slow down and set his base to tackle or account for the step.

At the moment he seems to forget that part and as he's still at top pace is easier to step.

Anyone who's been there knows you're on a hiding to nothing: Get there too soon and you're easily stepped. Slow down to brace and miss, you look like you're not committed to the contact...

I think it's easy to misread Bula. He didn't have a great game, yet scored a try and was the only player to get anywhere near one of Doueihi's bombs.

First hit out for the year. Better he has a quiet game in the pre season! 😊

Yes, it’s a glaring weakness and he should have improved it by now.
Hopefully they are working on it.
Especially when it’s because he is overcommitting when he shows them the sideline as he has the pace to pick them up if they stay outside him,, he really doesn’t need to be so committed that he is stepped inside .. he should be a natural cover defender as his pace is elite

Very few fullbacks are considered great on the back of their defence - they all get exposed because a miss will often result in a try - despite all the misses by others leading up to that. He can defend well enough for a FB and hopefully he will be playing behind a team where he wont be required to make many one on one tackles with the line open.

Yeah...its called over committing.

I agree with others though he needs to toughen up a bit and put his body on the line...he seems a bit gun shy in this regard

I was at the fan day today at Concord and Jahream stayed out in the hot sun signing autographs and taking selfies for a good half an hour longer than any other players. He did not leave until he saw everyone that was waiting for him.
He didn’t seem like a player who was unhappy with the club and it’s fans.
That’s what makes the decision on how much he is worth so much harder as he is such a good person and a great ambassador for the club,
Never the less he needs to lift his urgency on the field to live up to his big price tag.

Two very different kicking games Doeuhi was more high bombs for us to get under Jocks kicking has been great but field position kicking finding grass often..
Would be great if we could utilise both at once thatd keep em guessing
What I like about Jock is that he’s structured and methodical with his kicking game. He focuses on winning metres and field position, while Adam focuses on creating pressure and forcing mistakes.

I prefer the slow and steady Jock style. Adam at 13 for mine.
