Good goal kicker as wellI think Broookes is closer than people think , an NRL pre season and some time around the squad would have him right up there .. kid is tough , and has good instinct and runs hard and puts his body on the line . Reminds me of watching a young Cameron Munster
Jesus he is great with the ball in his hand but not when he passes and not when he has to tackle anyone .. paps is a million dollar Fullback ,, he is the reason their attack ain’t so slick this year, meaning paps absence , not sua causing itThere's a real million dollar fullback running around for Melbourne tonight doing things Bula could only dream about.
And it hasn't taken him 4 years to be mediocre in the faint hope that he might do something one day in the future.
Plus it is the Bula threadSuzie take some time out to look at some of the other forums, considering the dramas we seem to constantly have at the Wests Tigers, we are really quite sedate.
Yeah but it was the hbg thread before that, galvin before that.. I understand where she is coming from..Plus it is the Bula thread
Crichton is so out of form.LOL Are you a Queenslander ?
Have you seen Staggs play at all this year?LOL Are you a Queenslander ?
If you asked me about losing Bula 2-3 years ago when he burst onto the scene, I'd have been very disappointed, but I just don't think he's added to his game a great deal as a fullback. Obviously his speed will always be a strength, but he doesn't quite use it in his running game like a Hammer or Weekes does. Under the high ball he's good, both in attack and defence. Does an OK job defensively. Hasn't really come on as a link man and ball-player as much as I would've liked.
Realistically where does hit sit out of the game's fullbacks? He'd barely be in the top 10.
I understand the risk of losing a player who is pretty good when you don't have a certain replacement lined up, but there's also a risk associated with overpaying an incumbent out of that fear too.
If Bula was showing consistent signs of improvement, I'd be more inclined to keep him. But there just hasn't been much more than incremental improvement and a reliance on his athleticism. While I'd stop short of calling him injury prone, he tends to pick up a few niggles every year which adds to my concern as the build-up of those over time can very quickly take away a player's athletic edge.
If he wants to come to the table and stay on a team-friendly deal in-line with market, great. If he wants to try and leverage PNG or a rival to get something that the star fullbacks should be on, I'm happy to let him go.
Yeah off the top of my head I'd have him around 8th or 9th.![]()

They've got him sitting at #7
Weekes is unreal.Yeah off the top of my head I'd have him around 8th or 9th.
Bula's better than Kennedy and I'd take him over the corpse of Trbojevic, but Walsh and Ponga are both better and Edwards is too despite the rating. Think you can make an argument for Weekes too.
Dunno what metrics they've used but yeah I don't agree with it.Laughable
This. It always amazes me how many players are led by their managers and not the other way around. For mine , i think if Bula really wants to stay he should grow
a pair and tell his manager to get a deal done or else.
If its png then the stand off makes sense. If you asked me about losing Bula 2-3 years ago when he burst onto the scene, I'd have been very disappointed, but I just don't think he's added to his game a great deal as a fullback. Fox has some pretty horrible data. The output from "Fox AI" is absolute trash.
I'm not a big fan of A.I in general.Fox has some pretty horrible data. The output from "Fox AI" is absolute trash.
It’s a power dynamic. Managers have the connections, the experience, the information, runs on the board, the agendas, the promises.This. It always amazes me how many players are led by their managers and not the other way around.
If he wants to stay he should be directing Moses to get a deal done. You’d think grown men would want more say and influence over decisions that affect their career and livelihoods.
