OFFICIAL Jahream Bula #269

Good news I guess but I hope it's not for ridiculous money. He's part of the close knit brotherhood at the Tigers but I also wonder what it means to a rising star like Brookes.
Who knows but like with Talyyn de asilva We need the best players now and not in 2-3 years. Bula is soliid in defence and improving in attack. Makes us a top8 team now. Not in a few years.

Stoked with the re-signing if true, even if we have overpaid slightly.

If we lost him and settled for a guy like Will Kennedy or Connor Tracey we would be setting ourselves back again
How much is it? The cap goes up in a couple of years so could be ok in terms of the cap.

Jahream Bula makes huge call on Wests Tigers future

Gun Wests Tigers fullback Jahream Bula has ended months of speculation about his future and agreed on a multimillion-dollar deal to remain at the club long term.

Bula is one of the game’s rising superstars and has been on the radar of a number of clubs, but this column has learned he has settled his future. An announcement is expected this week.

Just days after the club had to deal with the news that their spiritual leader Jarome Luai would join the PNG Chiefs from 2028, the Tigers have pulled off a significant coup by convincing their most exciting young player to commit to the club.

Tigers insiders say the deal will lock down the 24-year-old for several more years. It’s been described as a mega deal, and it shows great leadership by the Tigers, who have often been criticised as dysfunctional.

There had been fears Bula was heading for the exit because he was managed by Isaac Moses.

The conspiracy was that Moses wouldn’t sign him with the Tigers because of a strained relationship with coach Benji Marshall. But Moses has shown maturity and professionalism to do what he usually does – put his client first. The agent has also previously done a deal for Adam Doueihi at the Tigers.

The club has been keen to lock down Bula in light of misplaced hysteria around Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould showing interest in the fullback.

The Dogs have made no attempt to sign him, but the reaction to Gould’s praise for Bula during commentary for Nine was amusing to observe.

Gould’s description of Bula as “creamy” had some thinking Bula was being wooed by the Dogs in the way they perceived Lachlan Galvin had been.

And while Galvin did eventually leave the Tigers for the Bulldogs, in both instances there was nothing in Gould’s comments other than him being the brilliant TV commentator that he is.

The money freed up by Luai’s departure was helpful for the Tigers in retaining Bula.

It has been a great comeback by club management, who also convinced Terrell and Taylan May to re-sign, after losing Luai.

Thing I hate most about the Wiedler article is that it took the moment for the club to announce it as our win. It’s obviously been talked about for months, with lots of speculation and a reflects the turn around in the club.
To me, it feels a bit like a FU from Moses as this is not the outcome he wanted? I can only surmise that it was him who leaked it to Wiedler to have a small (petty) win.

Yeah terrible lol!!!! I’m with you mate all the way

Sorry to be negative

It just annoys me so much

I thought my Richo was the best signing we had made. And it burns that now we celebrate if we pay more

That’s all

Like if it comes out we paid bula and TM 1.1m per year I’m sure everyone we’ll be like awesome

I just think we could’ve gotten a better result. And I want the best for the club so we can win premierships

I was very down too after the Board thing in the offseason and Richo’s departure…. Looks like the NRL may have been more forceful getting a message across to the owners than we first thought ..

Yes the professionalism & maturity of Isaac Moses who presented a list of grievances to Richo & refused to look at an offer for LG from the club who gave him his first grade debut . Then used his media mouthpieces to trash the club & Benji

That mature & professional guy …

It's a wind up. Danny's a powerbroker too so he's gotta keep his boy Moses in the headlines.

It will be on the cap for sure.

After Keon got that at the drags and then with Jerome announcement - we had no cards to play.

If the deal had been done before Xmas like Terrell said Richo was onto before both those things Happened I reckon he signs for maybe $850/900k.

Every $100/150k we save on the bigger contracts the better.

Same as Bula.
Yes and no the cap will rise soon so as long as they weren't crazy stupid or have dumb clauses we will be ok.

The Gould creamy comment was clearly trolling Tigers fans, wot a total loser - truly an infantile mentality.

The trolling fun is for us as we watch the Dogs slide and he gets the can.

Message to Gould - when you start listening to fans, you'll soon join them.

100% Moses leaked it to DW, probably wrote the text himself (with AI I’m sure). Mature and professional indeed 🤣

Cant see it being reported anywhere. Close to a million is probably fine as long as it doesnt ratchet up with the cap increase. E.g. the cap goes up 20% and his contract matches

I’m sure there is a ratchet clause in there …particularly to commit now when we don’t know how much the cap is going up…. I think you have been proposing that they should handle it that way now to get him locked up right ? Apologies if I’m confusing you with someone else

of course it’s the starting off price that we don’t yet know…Surpises me a little that DW hasn’t been trumpeting the figures if this was some coup Moses has achieved

Almost guarantee that it was intentional. Surely the average punter would be scratching their heads, wondering what they just read 🤣

Marketing team gonna play into it for sure. Jahream the dream oh so creamy. Still has alot of growth in him and not at his peak. Good character, speed and for the most part good under the high ball. Best yet to come

Yeah Gus is effecting their recruitment. If I was their fan I'd be annoyed that he is working with nine and the bulldogs get your priorities right. He will say he didn't make an offer. Of course not Bula is still technically signed. But he was going after him no doubt.

Bula is what we need a sa.club. decent defender, good ball playing skills, decent pace. Power top8 fullback. Give him a couple of years and he will take the next step.

No doubt …

I mentioned yesterday that the Telegraph reported in a paragraph the May’s re-signing …

The media doesn’t like the Tigers positive news outcomes …

Interesting thought. I couldn’t work out why they would leak it. Was the potential for bury the hatchet moment… then…
