interesting Read on nrl360 last night said something about the deal looked like being off 2 weeks ago.
If that was the case fair chance Shaun has used a good chunk of Luai's salary to boost of Bula's considering even if he didnt sign he was getting 900k for 2027.

Read had zero idea he was guessing based on the Bulldogs rubbish. He didn’t say weeks ago it was the last show on Wednesday last week he said it.

I would say given what happened within days and the lengths that the club and players fully knew what was going on & expectations with it all waiting for Luai to be sorted before the structure of deals could be submitted formally to the NRL.

SM shat the bed when luai left..... IM got his money.

i said before that i am cousins with Roger Fabri - he told me a few weeks ago that we would have to pay that to keep him because of HBG and the december issue. and then the drags paying drinkwater didnt help.

The issue is -- with luai going -- HBG and SM think all they have to do is spread the luai money over keeping our current players.

i reckon bc of richo leaving and all this stuff dragging out - its probably cost us $500k-$600k more over the may brothers and bula. but HBG will claim victory bc of the resignings.

i assume they'll give the rest of Luias money to try and make makasini stay and upgrade him. along with samuela. that'll probably top us out at topping up the current crop with the extra $1.2M we had. guess they'll just run with AD, Bula, Api and then Haywood. And then have a little bit of money for a decent 5/8 - but not jarome money. maybe also tito needs another $200K up from $350K. and that i reckon will have dried up the xtra luai coin... not saying its bad. just probable

whether we can win a comp with that im not sure - i reckon next year is our best chance

It would be great to know what players are actually paid to keep all the guessing away, the only lead on the contract amounts is coming from Read for Terrell and Bula, what the hell would he know about the sensitive, he only gave a speculative range anyway.

It's the entire top 30 you look at, some get overs, some get unders, and in the end as long as there's enough bucks to keep who you want who really cares.

The NRL could learn a lot from the NFL when it comes to transparency and attempting to maintain a sense of parity in their competition.
