The Wests Tigers are pleased to announce the signing of Jake Averillo, with the centre inking a four-year deal with the Club.

Arriving at Concord for the 2027 NRL season, Averillo will play an important role in Benji Marshall’s backline and joins a core group of players committed to the Wests Tigers until the end of 2030.

Renowned for his speed, footwork and versatility, Averillo has amassed over 130 first grade appearances since making his debut for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in 2020.

Having spent four seasons with the Bulldogs, the Bankstown Sports and Moorebank Rams junior made the move north to the Dolphins in 2024 – having made 54 appearances, scoring 28 tries.

The 25-year-old – who has scored six tries in seven matches this season – brings strike power and experience to the Club’s backline, as well as the ability to cover multiple positions ahead of the 2027 campaign.

On signing his new deal, Averillo said he was looking forward to working under Marshall in 2027.

“I’m excited to be joining the Tigers and working under Benji and his team,” Averillo said.

“I’ve seen the way the Club has been building over the past few seasons, and after speaking with Benji, I’m looking forward to being part of the journey.

“The Club has some quality players signed long-term and I’m keen to playing alongside them and help bring success to the Tigers.”

Wests Tigers NRL Head Coach, Benji Marshall welcomed the news of Averillo’s commitment to the Club in 2027.

“We’re really pleased to have Jake join us from next season on a long-term deal. He’s a very talented player who will add a lot to our team,” Marshall said.

"Jake will bring plenty of strengths to our squad including speed and creativity to our centres and also cover multiple positions."

“After speaking with Jake, I loved his character and confidence, he’ll fit right into what we’re building here at the Wests Tigers.

“We look forward to welcoming Jake and his family to the Club.”

Yes ..good signing I think …even if we have been expecting it for a few weeks now …

We have paid a reasonable sum and I heard on one of the pods that we were the highest bidder by some margin … having said that , if they have identified him to fill a weakness on the team, I don’t really object to them doing what was required to get their man …. Doesn’t seem to be a ton of options out there otherwise…

I agree. Players of his talent are just going to get more expensive with more and more teams trying to buy from a very shallow pool of talent

Good upgrade on To'a

Riccio saying here that the money is $550-$600k a year which is a bit less than what was reported originally … Vossy pushing the five eighth angle though …

Thats good value! Good speed, right side player and great cover for Bula ✅

Vossy should stick to his crappy jokes only, always guaranteed to be lame.

Just shows that most of these journos just make estimates. Originally it was a 4 year deal averaging $675-$700k and now Riccio says 'in his opinion' it's around $550-$600k. I'd say it's closer to $550k maybe with ratchet clause.
