I have never been a fan of Jamal, but after watching this interview I will take a 1 year chance on him and if he proves to be committed I will be all for the club to offer an extension

Everyone I have seen take a year out if the game needs a season to find their feet again (Hopoate, Gasnier) even Hayne looked very rusty at times.

I don't mind the signing but realistically it should be a year with an option in our favour. Just our luck to sign him, waste half a year getting him fit and into form for us to lose him to another club when he reached his peak.

Idris to left centre, Simona to the wing? Heleta, Rankin, Kev & MCK fight it out for right centre in the off-season.

I think SImona needs to stay at centre.. just needs more ball to do something. THis might be the chance to break up the Naiqama and Nofo side and play Naiqama on the wing? Either way I think Idris needs to play.. if mentally right, to bring some size to our side.

Maybe we could use him as a back rower. Aloiai has formed a good combo with Moses on our right side attack. If he plays left with Brooks we could have strong runners on both sides. Move Lawrence to 13.

A risky and desperate signing, but at least they have identified a major weakness and trying to fix it. I know they have earmarked Ryan P for a centre gig possible as early as 2018, so Idris for a year might fill a gap, but not many players hit the road running after a extended break from the NRL, so you would imagine a player like Idris might really struggle

I for one, hope we do manage to sign him for a year. I was very impressed with his interview. Not only a good footballer, but a really good bloke by the sounds of it.
Wherever he ends up playing, I wish him all the best.

Simona and Idris in the centres and Nofoaluma and Charlie Taylor on the wings. They could play Idris in the backrow but centre is his favourite spot I believe. If he goes to the back row then it could be a few fighting for the centre spot. He needs to get fit for centre and put in at pre season starting in November

I'd put Idris in at right centre, and Kev to the left wing. When Kev only has to mark the man on the outside he'd be less of a defensive concern. Plus he has the strength and speed to do those dirty metres out of our own half.

That would leave rankin out and have moses as the goal kicker.

On an incentive based 1 year deal sure.

And can people stop naming Naiqama on the wing. Never, ever going to happen again. Do people not remember how much he was destroyed on the wing in defence and under the high ball??

Yep. The people stating Naiqama is great on the wing haven't watched him play on the wing. He is better in the centres.

Idris is a risk but I can see him coming on for 20-30 minutes a game and having an impact.

I watched the interview as well and it seems he may have settled down a bit after his travels , but what I likes was when he said something like the feeling he gets if he gets a good hit on a player in a tackle , I like anyone who wants to put a good hit on opposition players , we lacked a bit of that this year , the raiders showed us how to hit and we could not give it back to them to match it and lost , if cheap and a deal in favour of the club why not , at least he can play centre
