Ironic.
The sarcasm was in response to your own somewhat sarcastic comment:

You could always voice your concerns to the club Ink, if it bothers you so.

And therein lies the difference Ink, I wasn't being sarcastic. People do ring the club, and you're well within your right to do so if you have any suggestions for the media team. They're not immune from criticism and they're probably open to suggestions if you have any.

Looks like Bell is playing bench prop to start the year then.

I'd forgotten all about him….not hard to do I guess, he hasnt been mentioned all summer.
He'll need to step up....needs to find something extra on last year

Some of us hadn't forgotten about Bell Ink

I was hoping we would play him at lock to try and add some size to the pack

Our best footy in 2012 just happened to coincide with Bell being at lock

Might have to stick that idea on the backburner

Im starting to think along similar lines but with a twist.

Looking at our depth at both front row (weak) and backrow (strong) id like to see the following.

8.Galloway
9.Farah
10.Woods
11.Anasta
12.BMM
13.Blair

14.Bell
15.Fulton
16.Pettybourne
17.Thompson

Now that means we start the game with Blair at lock but he moves into the front row rotation after his first spell allowing the use of the 3 backrowers on the bench, with Bell, Woods, Galloway and Blair all finishing the game as our 4 front rowers.

This allows us to keep experience up front, start with a bigger pack, and add strike power both Pettybourne and Thompson.

I like the idea KS but would prefer to have Fulton starting and being Benji's minder

Bring Anasta off the bench playing 60 minutes and then you have two options of either pushing Blair or Bell into the front row when we switch Keefy or Woods at first interchange

8 Keefy
9 Farah
10 Woods
11 Fulton
12 Blair
13 Bell

14 Anasta
15 BMM
16 Pettybourne
17 Thompson/Spence/Seumanufangua/Fotuiaki

It looks like our props from BRET and NYC are forgotten :frowning:
My packing order: Woods (194cm/109kg), Galloway (195cm/112kg), Bell (190cm/108kg), Seumanufagai (189cm/110kg), Fotuaika (181cm/104kg), Brown (105cm /107kg), Paasi (180cm/104kg), Gavet (186cm/108kg), Buchanan (193cm/107kg), Groat (190cm/113kg) etc.

So:
Woods
Farah
Galloway
Anasta
BMM
Bell

14 Seumanufagai
15 Pettybourne/Blair
16 Fotuaika
17 Fulton

In the past seasons the West Tigers have seemed to be having difficulty in the first hectic 20 minutes of the match. I would therefore be inclined to start with our best defensive pack which would be Bell, Fulton, Anasta, Galloway, Farah and Woods. For the next 20 minutes replace 3 tired forwards with the big boppers, BMM. Blair and Seumanufagai. The fresh attacking bench forwards such as Pettybourne and Thompson should take the field in the second half.

both wouldnt be in the 17 if all fit anyway…

Sheensified.
Waste of a bench spot particularly when you have both Anasta & Fulton starting….one or the other should probably be #14
Very very light starting back row, both injured players who you reckon would miss the squad would help rectify this imo....

thats right..you cannot have a light backrow like that these days..need some aggression, strength..power ..these days. And as much I am a fan of Fulton ( and I want him playing a lot of footy ) putting him with old boy Anasta and slacka Blair just wont work.

Pretty big blow as I'm sure at least one, possibly two, of these blokes would have been on the bench for round 1\. Groats isn't the end of the world, as said he should be back in nsw cup by round 5-6\. I'm disappointed by gavets injury, was really looking forward to seeing what he brought to the table.

Big chance for Buchanan and Fotuiaka to impress in the trials now. The two big units for BRET would also be a chance but i think they are a bit down the pecking order. Bell, Blair and Pettybourne could all play there if needed.

The loss of any of our forwards is not good, especially as we will be using four forwards off the bench instead of the Sheen's tactic of using 3 forwards and a back. Disappointed for Matty and James Gavet but they will be back mid season and I think we still have good depth in the forwards. The lack of information surrounding Gavet's injury is a worry, it only leads to speculation and that's not good for him or for the club at the start of a season.

With us being 2 props down I'd shift Blair into the front row for the first 6 months, he has bulked up from last year and should be able to take it..

This would give BMM, Pettybourne the two second row spots with Anasta at lock and Fults playing 14.

100% spot on.How others havent realised the importance of bell in at lock especially to start games is beyond me.Bell at lock just helps so much with our overall pack size and defence.

Gavet suffered a Lizfranc injury. It's essentially when bones in the 'middle foot' separate and can often occur if something heavy lands on the foot or if the foot is twisted awkwardly - his was the second category.

Assessment & op tomorrow!

Can be very serious but at this stage they're positive that his injury was at the lower end of the scale in terms of length of time for recovery.

…and for the suspicious fan it was a freak accident that happened at home, nothing untoward!!!
