James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

If Teddy was good enough he should have helped get us to the semi's at least once, with him in the team.

Hayne did it in 2009,in fact just about on his own he got Parra to the Grand Final in 2009\. (Halves then for Parra were Daniel Mortimer & Jeff Robson.Forwards weren't that flash either).

sounds more like a dog than a rooster

i hate you with the bottom of my heart teddy, wish nothing but wooden spoons unto you and your team (from 2018)

that being said, he'll kill it with their forward pack, friends' service out of dummy half and robinson's coaching.

so angry

The NRL might have a look at the NBA trade/free agent deal operate that reward long serving players. Essentially it means another team can only offer certain amount for an opposing teams player.

Demarcus cousins if he stayed at Sacramento could of earned a contract worth approx 150 million but if he signed anywhere else I think it was only 118 million max he could earn over the course of his next contract. That got all null and void when kings traded him but the sentiment on rewarding the player to stay with his current team is there.

He was a free agent and free to go where ever he wants and for what ever reason. If you have anger, direct at the NRL for allowing a club to buy a super star from another club who has developed this kid from u8s without having to pay any compensation or having any cap penalties, Its the system that stinks.

Also love to know how the Chooks can do it, 600 grand worth of TPA's plus a full salary cap would still be way short of the dollars required to roll out their roster. You have to ask the question, does the NRL really want to know

So true but a bit of loyalty would've been nice. They said they wanted to see that the club was heading in the right direction b4 they made their decisions. Well they signed with us up until end of 2017 knowing our salary cap was in disarray until than. We have now signed a great coach until 2020\. Have a free salary cap. Have attracted great new player's under the new coach who we would've fitted under the Salary Cap even with them signing on. It doesn't get much rosier. I think they spat the dummy cos they didn't get the coach isaac wanted them to have and mm contract was pulled off the table

I doubt the NRL would adopt the same ideas as the NBA. In rugby league the clock isn't even stopped when there is no play.

Its a pity not many other clubs would of stood by him for 5 years while he missed more than 40% of games due to injury in the NRL, especially in his younger days on big money and constantly on the sideline.

At the end of the day its a business and I am sure he is getting big $$ and big promises.

I think its a blessing in disguise for the Tigers.

True that would be too logical.

His 2017 form is pretty average TBH. May have already seen him peak.

I hope so, sick of hearing that the Roosters have got him in his prime.. Man I hope they never see finals footy with him in the team..

Meh … He ain't that good .
Would rather a traditional fullback , one that returns the ball with balls , not one that runs like a new born Girraffe .

Onwards and upwards !

Let's not get all "he's not even that good anyway," he was highly sought after for good reason.

It sucks he's left us , but let's not get jilted lover about his ability. Woods, while also rightly treated as a pariah, copped the same treatment and he is certainly not a bad player either.

woods while a good prop, little overrated- horrible horrible captain though.

tedesco.. well he's gonna be the best fullback in a couple of years.

Are Ben Matulino and Josh Reynolds traitors Dogs..I'm just curious…

I don't mean to be disrespectful Geo, but the situations are so completely different that it is stunning you could even compare them…

Reynolds and Matulino have both been effectively 'pushed out' by the salary cap. Both were loyal clubmen and both broke down in tears telling their mates they were leaving. Both are towards the end of their careers (27 and 28). Both showed loyalty for years. Both went to GFs and finals with their clubs.

Tedesco is a local kid, who the club stood by 1000% despite years of injuries. They then offered him Thurston like money to stay. At only 24 he is walking away having achieved absolutely nothing with us.

If Tedesco was 28, I could understand his urgency. But he is 24 and, instead of leading us.......he is bailing. It is that simple. He is taking the easy option of just jumping on the Rorters train.

Well said cnx tigers…you are 100% correct!

Yeah we're all pissed that they're going after the club did everything to retain them but let's not carry on like they're on par with Naiqama for ability just because they're leaving and they behaved poorly (goes for Woods more than Teddy)…

hahaha. It's pretty emotionally immature how people are making those comments as a way to deal with losing a player they enjoyed watching and supporting.

He'll be a loss. The biggest out of the 3, BUT, with our signings and with more to come, we will have a much stronger and well balanced squad in 2018 than 2017.
