James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

@ said:
I just hope he comes out and tells the club if he has signed elsewhere ASAP, so both parties can get on with the 2017 season and the club can make some plans for 2018 and beyond.

I don't believe Tedesco has signed elsewhere yet…I still believe we can retain him though not as confident as I once was..

A lot will come down to the plan they have to get players around him ..

Couple of comments…..

I just saw the "interview" and I didn't take It as negatively as others. Teddy came across as somewhat exasperated about the whole thing like most of us.
Could he have been more effusive about staying? Sure. Did he say anything that could have been construed as 100% leaving? No
He said he wants to win games, be in semi's- exact quote "whether here or elsewhere"
Also said he isn't thinking about contracts...just winning games......

If he has signed elsewhere as some are saying, why the delay in announcing? No need to not say it.....so I am fairly certain nothing has been signed. I think it will all come down to who the new coach is and what sort of plan/discussions he has with them before they make up their minds, so despite what's we would all like I think we have a few more weeks of this so .....I am checking out till its all done.....

As others in the 4 have said," players play, coaches coach and admin administrate - wouldn't that be wonderful"

Player mangers should just all go and f themselves, figuratively speaking.......

Well that's disappointing, I'm fairly confident Teddy has already signed somewhere else going by that interview.

I disagree. When he said when there are genuine offers in front of him and it's the right time he will sit down and make a decision I believed him. The way I see it is the players are fed up with losing and constantly dealing with off field dramas, still waiting to see who the coach will be etc. Their morale is way down at the moment. You watch a few wins in a row and appoint cleary as head coach and everything will turn around.

Hopefully you're right mate and my gut feeling is wrong

Yep he's gone.
Listening to Woods lately he's gone as well.
Shame but thats modern day footy.
I think the kids will stay in the halves as they wont earn the same elsewhere.

Gonna be fun on here when this eventuates

Could always shut down the forum down for a few days…

Teddy is a future superstar and too good for the Tigers. He has seen how the club treats its favourite sons ( the farah fiasco ) and in a career that is maybe 10 years long if your lucky,he would be crazy to stay here. The club is an absolute shambles, from the Management, The facilities, The coaching, The Finances…and the list keeps going.
Teddy stayed with us after signing with Canberra previously. He won't make that mistake again.
It will be a pity to see him go but realistically....how can we expect him to stay.

We've still got 20 games left this year. There's plenty of time for Cleary to come in and restore the mediocre four's faith in the club. We could finish the year in tenth and recruit for next year. I think that is all we need to do for them to buy into Cleary's plan. Then we should be able to keep at least 2-3 of them.

I would love to believe you Marzie please do tell when the "wins in a row" will happen.

Pretty sure he's a superstar already.

No idea. They might be sandbagging. I've whispers suggesting we'll keep 3 of the 4 with Moses the odd one out, now people reckon Woods and Teddy are gone.

On the whole I think people get too worked up about this sort of stuff. It's out of our hands and the more speculation that goes on, it just adds fuel to the fire. Teddy's staying…no, now he's going...no he's staying.

I think they'll wait to announce the new coach. Personally I think most of them would be hoping for Cleary to come in, I think they craving an experience coach to come through the door. Once that is announced, I think we'll hear things over the next month or so, and make our moves on other players.

Would they wait for a new coach to announce they're leaving? Seems unlikely.

Maybe they haven't decided what they're going to do. Maybe the Tigers have cooled things off until the coach is sorted and then they'll throw their cards on the table…I don't know, I'm not losing sleep over it though. Given the way we have started this season I'd be leaning towards leaving, but with the right coach and a few astute buys for next season, such as strengthening the backrow, centre and wing, we could easily fight for the 8\. Behind the right forward pack, our spine will kill it. Just need a bit more size and impact to hold the middle of the field when our starting props are off the field. Guys like Evans and Matulino would be ideal in this situation.

That was my thoughts that his comments re playing finals is more important than money is enough indication he is looking outside of the Wests Tigers hope I am wrong but at this stage have to accept we may be a year or two off doing this if he is impatient.

I don't know I get the sense their apathetic towards cleary and would rather their crew in their Webster, Wehabe the secret foot whisper, and the rest of the Isaac Moses cronies

SO did Ben Teo, Fifta and Heightington.

Ah no Ben Te'o left for $$$.

Fifita left because he was traded.

Heighington left because he was shopped around.

It just so happens that the ended up playing finals football, that's the way footy works, Sharks were not on top back then.

All I'm saying mate is recent example of players leaving the Tigers and winning Premierships.

And thes players were no where near highly rated as our "big 4"

You don't think that comes into their thinking ?

OK but I can show you another 10 players who left and did not win premierships.

But anyway I am not disagreeing that they ended up winners, and of course if you leave a club you want to go somewhere where you can win. In fact your point is my point - anyone can leave any club and go on to be a winner, that's how the NRL works.

When Fifita left the Tigers Cronulla had recently finished 13th, 11th, 3rd, 15th, 14th, 13th. Then his first year they came 7th, 5th, 16th, 6th, 1st. We can't honestly say Fifita was joining a winning club, they had a poor recent record, so it was as much about the player himself as the club he was joining.

Imagine what he'd be behind a top team.

Q. Is Ivan Cleary the coach to keep you at the Tigers?

Teddy: I'm not sure, I don't know Ivan, I haven't been coached by Ivan, I'm going in with an open mind and we'll see how we go (then corrects himself)…if he comes here, we're not sure who'll be the coach."

The likelihood of Cleary coming to the Tigers is the only thing I took out of Teddy's responses.

All four have been shopped around to most of the other clubs.

None of the clubs have offered the money that Weststigers have offered.

Isaac needs to do better shopping…You believe Paul Kent...?

I guess we could take from that if they leave it wont be because of $$$$$$...

I don't think that they want a gaurantee, of a premiership, but he could safely go to any of half a dozen clubs , and have a hell of a lot more chance of finals then than he'd have here

Are you going to be as critical of any( if any) top quality players who leave their club to come here for more money, I realise that that's not a regular occurrence.
This isn't junior Football, and loyalty doesn't exist. As these blokes have seen first hand last season.
