James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Q. Is Ivan Cleary the coach to keep you at the Tigers?

Teddy: I'm not sure, I don't know Ivan, I haven't been coached by Ivan, I'm going in with an open mind and we'll see how we go (then corrects himself)…if he comes here, we're not sure who'll be the coach."

The likelihood of Cleary coming to the Tigers is the only thing I took out of Teddy's responses.

That comment seems pretty innocuous. I wouldn't expect him to say yes or no either way, becauase we all know Cleary will be here, and him giving a straight answer would be a dead giveaway of his intentions.

None of the 4 are going to sign before Cleary signs

And if Cleary doesn't sign , who knows it could be like the Major League movie when the owner discusses the signings for the season

I don't think that they want a gaurantee, of a premiership, but he could safely go to any of half a dozen clubs , and have a hell of a lot more chance of finals then than he'd have here

Hahaha sorry I had to laugh. 50% of clubs make the finals every year. So yes actually he can choose any club for next season and _at least_ half a dozen of them will play finals, 8 of them in fact.

Which 8 though? Seriously put your money down right now, right on the counter, and pick your Top 8\. Sportsbet and/or Ladbrokes and/or William Hill and/or TAB and/or bet365 would love to have your money.

All four have been shopped around to most of the other clubs.

None of the clubs have offered the money that Weststigers have offered.

Isaac needs to do better shopping…You believe Paul Kent...?

I guess we could take from that if they leave it wont be because of $$$$$$...

Sounds like we are offering overs. That can't be right, could it?
I can't believe Brooks is holding off from signing.

Someone a while ago alluded to one of the 4 having wanted to sign for a while but was being held up by his manager. If true, I suspect that to be Brooks. From what I've heard he doesn't wanna leave.

Well if we are offering overs as Kent reported again tonight ..it's not about the money or they would have already signed on the dotted …................... you would think

**St George-Illawarra the latest club to target off-contract Wests Tigers star James Tedesco**

ST GEORGE Illawarra has become the latest club to target off-contract Wests Tigers and NSW star James Tedesco.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal the St George Illawarra director of rugby league pathways, Ian Millward, has made contact with Tedesco’s manager, Isaac Moses.

No offer was lodged but the message was clear: “If Teddy wants out, let’s talk”.

The revelation sets the scene for a fascinating battle between Tedesco’s Wests Tigers and St George Illawarra on Sunday at ANZ Stadium.

St George Illawarra privately feel Tedesco will remain at Concord on a $1 million a year contract — but they still want a crack at Tedesco.

Tedesco has always been likely to stay, but with the fullback, Luke Brooks, Mitchell Moses and Aaron Woods all uncontracted at Concord, rivals clubs continue to circle.

Moses promised to contact St George Illawarra if Tedesco elected against re-signing but the Dragons haven’t heard from Moses through the past week.

St George Illawarra’s priority is to re-sign champion players Josh Dugan and Gareth Widdop.

Dragons coach Paul McGregor raised eyebrows this week when he said Dugan would remain the long-term fullback while he was coach, despite Millward making no secret of the fact he sees Dugan’s future in the centres.

The Dragons believe they have “nothing to lose’’ by contacting Tedesco’s management.

On Thursday, Tedesco — who has never played final football — said he wanted to play with a winning and successful club.

“It’s not about either of those (cash or a new coach) — it’s about winning games,” Tedesco said. “Every player wants to be playing finals footy and I haven’t done that for five or six years (since Holden Cup).”

Tedesco also called on Wests Tigers management to become a more stable and solid organisation.

“It’s pretty clear that we need to get that stable and it’s been unstable for a few years,” Tedesco said. “It all comes from the top. The board and the guys upstairs really need to show some stability so we can be confident in our abilities.”

The so-called big four won’t re-sign with Wests Tigers until they at least know who will be coach for next season and beyond.

The Daily Telegraph understands Ivan Cleary will be announced as new Wests Tigers head coach on Monday. Cleary’s deal will span three-and-a-half years. He would take over the Tigers from interim coach Andrew Webster for the round six match against North Queensland in Townsville.

Once the Cleary deal is completed, Wests Tigers can reinvigorate contracts talks with the Fab Four.

There was talk last week that Canterbury had expressed interest in all four players. The Bulldogs claim they could not possibly fit them under the NRL’s salary cap.

Tedesco will be a priority signing. He and Woods would be the first two targets for Wests Tigers management followed by Moses and Brooks.

Moses knocked back $800,000 a year last season to join the Sydney Roosters. It would now appear unlikely he would be able to command such a price tag.

Tedesco is poised to retain his place as NSW fullback for this season.

So we're his Alan Bond!.

This reminds a of the time when Manly used to raid the Magpies of their top players. Only difference is these days it's more of a dog eat world in the NRL. Money certainly rules the sport. Wasn't the CAP system introduced to create a level playing field? I wonder how many secret TPA's the NRL is turning a blind eye to?

Richest man in Australia could surely tip in a sizable TPA you'd think

I had a laugh too, you are forgetting that he only has to pick one to go to, he's good, but not a magician . Read what I said, i never said anything about 8 teams
Tale the top 6 teams and go to any of them And they are a lot more chance of getting to the finals than we are. Or are we in line for a spectacular revival. Hope so
I repeat that there's no gaurantee, but I'd happily take my chances .

Non Affiliated TPA's that can't be guaranteed by the said Club..?

I guess but risky for both Club and player…

I expect Teddy to leave us and Rooster would be a good fit.

Michael Gordon at the end of his career and Mitchell seems to make a good centre.

Uncle Nick has plenty of third party funds.

I expect us to keep Woods and Moses. Brooks is park football standard

Haven't the Roosters come out and said they won't deal with Isaac Moses?

Really.

Have you got the article where they said that?

Just another reference for the Roosters not dealing with Isaac Moses

Most of them they only chase the clubs easy to catch like us knights and parra

I think Tedesco will be the only player out of the big 4 offered a decent contract from another club but at the price he will come at it won't be an easy decision. He is a great player but there are so many great fullbacks out there.

Time for these players to stand up for more than half a game. Getting tired of the 'let our footy do the talking ' spiel. When will they walk the talk. The manager wants to be careful if he's playing hardball, he might get told to pack up his toys and go.

Wait a sec….if they did that there would be a chance ever so slim they would be playing finals football..

On reflection given yesterdays comments the most disappointing thing is they have given up on 2017 themselves with 21 Rounds to go ....be lucky to get past the BYES...

I am hoping some of the so called big four sign after the coach has been announced next week, I feel if they were going they would of signed somewhere else already & Cleary wouldt sign with us So i guess where there is life there is hope.
