James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

First he wants to see how we start the year (something he has control over, not the board), then he wants to wait till he finds out who the new coach is. Now he wants to wait to see how the new coach goes. Enough is enough of this crap. Don't even get me started on captain pea heart.

Maybe it's just a generational thing and I'm too old to understand but I am sick of self-entitled players thinking that they should be able to live in a perfect world and get paid top dollar at the same time. They need to spend time doing a real 40 hour week, earning a fraction of their income. I've never worked in an office that's not had some management dramas or other issues that were out of my control but you just get on with YOUR job and suck it up.
Wests Tigers is the same dysfunctional club that stuck by Teddy through some major injuries and helped him be the payer he is today, able to command top dollar!
I despise this part of the game now where players basically control everything and believe that the world owes them a favour. A heap on here will tell me that "it's a business…blah blah blah" and they are right but that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed in players that I thought had more respect.

"Tempted to leave" yeah right….. he just highlights that his sick of the off field drama ( something we are all aware of) but don't worry about that, he states his priority is to stay and he will.

If he and Woods signed, what drama would the club have? I'm scratching my head over that one. I love him, but i feel like he's making excuses. Tbf he's probably only regurgitating what his germ of a manager tells him to. Like Captain pea heart does. These guys are so easily manipulated.

As per usual another over-dramatized piece of journalism. Teddy stated facts. The Tigers have been a basket case behind the scenes, god knows we all know it and talk about it on here, and yes, the Bulldogs and Roosters are the two powerhouse clubs in Sydney at the moment.

We need a couple of good signings asap to show Woods and Tedesco that the club means business next year, which will hopefully entice them to stay.

It's up to the club to prove to Tedesco that they have immediate genuine plans to heavily bolster our player stocks even if means spending all of our 2018 CAP. I hope they are working on right at this moment. Any delay will be very costly.

I write better headlines…

A lot of quotes in there from months back all thrown into 1 article like it was yesterday..

It just proves what we all know Journalism is dead instead replaced with sensationalism to get clicks...

“Obviously the priority is to stay at Tigers

cheers
Something none of the other 3 have said.

Otherwise - some solid talking points on the briefing sheet Isaac gave him.
IIRC the roosters have changed CEO more recently than WT.

When are these guys going to get it? They are on the field, they are responsible for their performances. Must have been the off field distraction that made Teddy drop it over the tryline early last week.

We are finding out a lot about what makes the guys tick through this whole process, what they are made of, and i might be no "footy whisperer" or head coach, but if any person on this forum is looking for reasons we capitulate in games when things go against us then look no further than these "leaders". I'm reluctant to say things like this about a guy like Teddy because i do believe he tries his heart out, but this club needs to move forward and start getting players who look for ways to win instead of reasons why they cant win.

Strong leaders bring people to them and with them, unfortunately i just don't see that in this group of players.

Great post. These guys aren't very mature or smart are they. I suppose they are there to play footy but it'd be good if the club helped them out maybe by offering them some better advice that that germ is providing to them.

Agree on most points raised here, its sensationalist dross that absolutely does not reflect the actual quotes. Teddy wants to stay, end of. Admittedly if he signed some of the off field drama goes, but Moses and Simona were out of his hands.
I'd love for him to stay and get a chance to play under Cleary and (hopefully) with some players he brings in, but if he goes, 100% in on Lolohea, fullback position is his for as long as he wants it.

I'm with ya 100%…Woods has been such a let down this year, both in his role as Club Captain and forward leader on the field...I have not heard him pledge any loyalty to the WT colours such as Josh Reynolds continually does; I have never seen him show passion behind the goal posts to his players; he plays up to his larrikin chilled persona on the media....seriously he is only making the NSW squad on his 'reputation" of a couple years back....there are so many front rowers that and much better than Woods (james, Mclean) who are on half his salary!....Hey Woodsy #2139.....go!

mmmmm your last point is the absolute truth.
But that runs much much higher than the playing group.
Do you or anyone else think the calibre of Thurston, cronk, smith, foran would come to this club ?
Given all the dramas of the past, and the way in which the coach was handled this year ?

The issue here, these guys have been heralded as the future before they were proven and tested.
During their time here they have watched the club, the coach, the captain, staff, and potential staff all being treated "questionably"

it dosent matter what side of the fence you sit on, you just need to ask yourself what would you do in this same situation.

some might claim righteousness - loyalty - less money - etc etc etc… but again - these kids have NOT witnessed any of this.
they have come from being winners as kids to real life where they are now losers and the club they loved has shown none of the above to anyone ....
of corse you would see what offers are on the table

the banter...thats just to sell papers and fire people up....
in a perfect world - he will stay...woods will stay...Brooks will get a mature partner and the club will attract some other quality players.... but this is WT world where the club thinks its being doing a great job since the time it punted Tim Sheens

Can't bend the club over financially wanting 5-7 year deals worth over 1.2 mil a season then in same breath ask the club to build a strong roster.

rubbish !

**supposedly the Roosters offer is $6m over 5 years..**

Greenberg has a lot to answer for IMO…why have a salary cap when rich clubs can rort it through TPA's..None of these wealthy clubs strictly adhere to the TPA rule of "arms length"....look at the Eels....Come on man!.

How's it rubbish? You have woods wanting in excess of 900k and Tedesco wanting 1.2 over a long term. That's close to 25% of your cap in 2 players.

As mentioned already, the best thing the club can do right now is sign a couple of tried and tested first graders - especially forwards.
That will make Teddys and Woods decision much easier.

Manly went through plenty of turmoil in the last ten years off field. Didn't seem to worry their blokes, they just got on with the job they were paid to do, winning footy games…..obviously a tad harder than our poor little fellas.
