James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Go Teddy, just go! You deserve so much better than this, you are wasting your footballing life having to play with this team. Go and connect with a decent club that has a winning culture, where you will be supported and you will become the superstar we all know you are - you deserve it mate.

Thought he was actually quite selfish in attack today. A couple of times if he passes early we score, but instead he went himself and took the room his outside support player had.

Moses can go jump as far as I'm concerned.

Tedesco is just as bad, I am over the lot of them.

Same here. Recent interviews rubbed me the wrong way

Couldn't give a bugger about so called interviews. He's the only real quality player in this club. And worth whatever it takes to keep him.
He can't do it every week for these Numb Skulls that he's stuck with.

Agee Flip , I would even be dropping my price to go to another club if I were Tedesco .

We need him but if he left I wouldn't begrudge him. He only has a certain amount of time in footy. He is a wonderful player

I actually think with the right coaching, Brookes can be a very, very good halfback. I don't mind if we sign him. He needs confidence more than anything. There have been plenty of good judges saying pretty much the same thing.
I look forward to seeing what Cleary can do with him - if he agrees to join us of course.

Totally off subject Yeti , but after reading your very ,very comment I thought of Captain Lasard from the Police Academy movies

Back on Brooks , I struggle to see how anyone can fix his defensive issues , no matter who you put around him he is going to have to make 1 on 1 tackles from time to time

Still the biggest issue moving forward

How did the Sharks fix Maloney's… who misses more one on one and tackles than any half in the Comp...?

Defence isn't about 1 man...you need to look at why our halves get isolated so often..

Maloney is similar to Moses were he manages to stay on his feet when he misses tackles and is still an active defender

Stats don't always tell the full story Geo

Moses was absolute dog poo in defence yesterday. Half arsed attempts, shirt grabs, non efforts. I think I saw him get bumped at one point, and he started running back to the line before the second defender even got in to effect a tackle. He made Naiqama look like Beau Scott.

Teddy had an average game by his standards, but it was still a passable effort. Hard to shine when the rest of the team doesn't support you.

The lack of support for the man who breaks the tackle/line is completely astounding. So many times the man with the ball broke the tackle and had no one running off their hip.

The fact our only try came from Widdop stuffing up in goal is bitterly telling.

I don't think that they want a gaurantee, of a premiership, but he could safely go to any of half a dozen clubs , and have a hell of a lot more chance of finals then than he'd have here

Hahaha sorry I had to laugh. 50% of clubs make the finals every year. So yes actually he can choose any club for next season and _at least_ half a dozen of them will play finals, 8 of them in fact.

Which 8 though? Seriously put your money down right now, right on the counter, and pick your Top 8\. Sportsbet and/or Ladbrokes and/or William Hill and/or TAB and/or bet365 would love to have your money.

I had a laugh too, you are forgetting that he only has to pick one to go to, he's good, but not a magician . Read what I said, i never said anything about 8 teams
Tale the top 6 teams and go to any of them And they are a lot more chance of getting to the finals than we are. Or are we in line for a spectacular revival. Hope so
I repeat that there's no gaurantee, but I'd happily take my chances .

Uh you missed my point, I'll try one more time.

You said he could "safely go to any of half a dozen clubs and have a hell of a lot more chance of finals than he'd have here". Well actually that's just your opinion, it's not a safe bet at all. If it's a safe bet, put your money down, put it ALL down. You wouldn't, because it's not safe, you're just guessing it's more likely.

And no there actually isn't "a hell of a lot more chance" of playing finals anywhere but Tigers. It's just your opinion or prediction. Of all the clubs, arguably Tigers have one of the least predictable futures in the NRL, because the coach and roster are in such flux.

So I mentioned 8 teams because that's how many make the finals every year, obviously. Tedesco could randomly pick any one of the 16 clubs and have a 50% chance of playing finals before making any consideration of the form, roster, coaches etc.

I will happily consider the "top 6 teams" (I assume you mean right now Rd 4 2017) and again it's your opinion that they are more chance of making the finals _next year_ (bearing in mind Tedesco is planning for 2018).

You are exactly right, Tedesco is not a magician, he's just a punter like any of us, especially if he wants to choose clubs based on potential finals appearances. That's why it's BS to me to move to clubs "to play finals footy". How do you know they will be in the finals? Because they used to be?

AND we haven't even addressed an important point yet: where we would assume that the top teams have generally stable, well-paid and well-performing rosters. That's normally what's required for repeat finals football: high-performing and experienced footballers. Those aren't cheap. You could well argue that such "successful" clubs are much less likely to both:
a) need an elite-class fullback; and
b) be able to afford an elite-class fullback under the salary cap.

If you take the Roosters for example, generally accepted as a wealthy, politically powerful and moderately successful club. Between 1996-2004 they made the finals every year, including 4 GF appearances and 1 premiership. Really quite good! Then between 2005-2012 they made the finals twice, one of those being the GF.

If you'd joined Roosters in 2005 you could have been expected to have high hopes for playing finals football, but you would have had to wait until 2008, in other words a standard 3-year deal you would have missed out.

Similarly Roosters were minor premiers 2013-2015 and had one premiership. But then they came 15th last year. How unpredictable! And my point exactly. Even if you'd joined the 3x minor premiers you would have been second-last last year.

There's an even better example for Tedesco. When he signed for the Raiders everyone assumed that part of the reason he got cold feet was that they couldn't make any other signings (they tried Mansour and a few others if memory serves) and he didn't want to play the next three years for a hopeless side in Canberra.

The reverse side is how many times did Tedesco go himself, especially in the first five minutes with an overlap close to the try line? If you know in any sport that your team mate is not likely to pass you the ball, why waste the effort.

Can't argue with that, but if you're not running support you don't even put the defensive line in two minds. They know they only have to take the man with the pill.

Reckon the Raiders would trade those three for Rapana, Hodgson and Whitehead? Just goes to show…

Yeah it's not often you can say a player backflipping on you worked out in your favour, much less three/four times over.

My comments (if you look at the time I made them ) were based on previous weeks not yesterday CB

Some harsh critics. The kid can't do everything. Standard play was throw six passes sideways and then throw to Teddy for the miracle play. About time some of these imposters stood up

James Tedesco reveals rival clubs’ interest, slaps ‘bottom’ Wests Tigers

JAMES Tedesco has sensationally revealed he is being courted by the Bulldogs and Roosters, and the reasons why he could leave Concord to join an NRL rival.

Speaking to local radio station C91.3FM early on Thursday morning, Tedesco was open and honest when questioned about his contract situation and the firestorm engulfing his Wests Tigers.

Tedesco’s future is a hot topic in rugby league at the moment, as he’s yet to commit to a club beyond 2017.

He’s not alone, with teammates and close friends Aaron Woods, Mitchell Moses, and Luke Brooks also yet to confirm their futures — although Brooks is believed to have agreed to an extension with the Tigers.

The quartet have been quiet on their contract situations over the past two months but Tedesco dropped a bombshell when asked about the Bulldogs and Roosters.

“Those two teams are interested,” the talented fullback said.

“(My manager) Isaac (Moses) told me those two are interested, I haven’t really had any formal discussions with them.

“They definitely are interested, and those two teams are pretty strong clubs that we’ll have to consider.

“Obviously the priority is to stay at Tigers but our performances lately haven’t been up to scratch, from my perspective and from the team’s perspective.”

Tedesco is one of the hottest young players in the game and undoubtedly one of the best fullbacks running around.

The Tigers confirmed on Wednesday night they have made Tedesco and Woods retention priorities, but they face stiff competition from rival clubs.

In a shock admission, Tedesco revealed he is fed up with the off-field dramas the Tigers seem to find themselves in on a regular basis.

The club’s latest saga involved sacking coach Jason Taylor three rounds in to the season, who has now been replaced by Ivan Cleary.

“I think clubs like the Bulldogs and Roosters, you know they’re always going to be strong and they’ve always been run from the top very powerfully,” Tedesco said.

“The Tigers have always been down the bottom, we’ve always had off-field dramas and that stuff gets quite annoying over the years when you have to put up with it.

“That stability at other clubs is tempting, I guess, when you think about it.

“Ivan’s come in and said it will take a bit of time, and there is hope there that we can get back on track and that’s the hope we need.”

\
'I was a scapegoat''I was a scapegoat'3:11

Tedesco says if new coach Cleary can prove he has what it takes to turn the club around on and off the field, he will be more inclined to stay in the famous black and orange strip.

“It’s not money, the money is not an issue,” he said.

“Just our performances need to improve … as I said Ivan might come in and prove that and I might see that long-term we will be able to win premierships.

“Also recruiting as well, I think we need to make some good signings in the next few years to be a strong club.

“Our squad at the moment is quite strong, we just haven’t been consistent for many years.

“I’m hoping Ivan can come in and we can generate some consistency, but it takes a bit of time.”
\
\

Cleary has spoken privately to Tedesco already in the past few days in an effort to entice the star fullback to remain at Concord.

“He’s talked to me a bit and said he can turn me into the best fullback in the game,” Tedesco said.

“He played fullback as well, and I know myself I’ve got to work on some things and improve in a lot of areas and he’s confident that he can help me with that.

“The team too with that stability — as you know we’ve had a lot of off-field stuff — and having Ivan there, he’s come in and simplified it a bit for us.

“I think we’ll take that on board and hopefully get a win this weekend. We need something.”

Tigers need to be smart here negotiate Woods and Teddy to the Bulldogs and get players in return. If Teddy goes to the Roosters they will fit him in for peanuts with so called corporates making up the majority of the contract. In my view Woods and Teddy couldn't be more obvious they want to leave.
