James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

Honestly Tedesco leave I am fine.

His comments are just rubbish salt into the wound for the club. Just hurry up and go mate instead of talking and talking in the media.

He nearly left last time. So I expect nothing less really.

He saw the way the club treated Robbie who was the bloke that kept him here.

Im happy to jut start again completely. Build a hole new squad with a different culture and different leaders.

It might take time but what have we got to lose. We are last currently with this big 4\. Worst Attack and worst defence.

Can Nofa be a full time fullback? He is easily our best player ATM.

Just a gut feeling nothing else.

I heard the interview 1 hour ago coming home just got the feeling the way he was responding that his as good as gone .

How do the Roosters keep buying rep players inside the salary cap??? (There starting 13 are nearly all rep players) yet they want more
Don't want to hear Third party payments or that stuff because they got keep buying the talent and we keep producing it. The NRL needs to step in and have loyalty money for clubs like us with juniors PLUS i believe all players salary should be made public like American sports..
Its like the elephant in the room that NRL won't check..
Rant over

TBH based on the interview he appears to want to stay but is sick of the circus crap which has to take its toll.

Wonder how long Cleary has to convince him and how long Teddy has to commit.

Of course he wants to stay. It's never been about money. He's sending a message to management that the crap needs to stop. For mine he's peeved at the way they handled JT's sacking.

JT may not have been sacked if those blokes didn't keep dragging this stuff out. The four of them have blood on their hands. (Not that I'm sorry he has departed)

It is annoying actually, over hearing about the Roosters and Bulldogs in particular somehow always being in a position to buy the biggest stars in the NRL.. Every year. Looking at the Roosters squad it's got to be impossible, TPAs aside. No one seems to know with any confidence how these are arranged or what the details are anyway so surely they're not as prominent as some think, otherwise the NRL is probably the dodgiest sport in Australia (lol ok maybe it is).

Meanwhile, clubs like us haven't "been in the market" for years!

He is a major player in this "circus crap" so he can't totally distance himself from it.
If he is so concerned about WT building a strong roster and also that "money is not the issue" then he should put his money where his mouth is, sign for the minimum amount that the NRL will allow him to be signed for and let the WT use the money they have saved on his wages buy another quality player to play alongside him. I don't believe a word he says TBH, him or Woods.

Just a question.

How many games has Tedesco played / missed since he made his debut?

A million dollars plus for someone who is injury prone seems a bit over the top.

Don't get me wrong, he's an attacking force but if he's not on the field it doesn't matter how talented he is.

If they re-signed, Taylor would more than likely still have a job. My opinion is that they were cosy with Taylor. Why wouldn't they be, he defended them at every turn, even when they needed a rocket. Now Cleary has come in, probably said something along the lines of "from this point on everyone is accountable". These guys aren't use to being spoken to like that, even have tried to put the blame on everyone else for the teams poor start, and now at least one one of the 3 (not including Brooks) is leaving, and the signs are the others are too.

Smh stating Miniciello is his mentor and going by their history and friendship I'd say this will be the sway if he does go.

Here's the article, I'll start by correcting Webster, yet another journo getting this wrong, Tigers have had 4 coaches in 6 years, 3 coaches in 5.

Secondly I'll note, Mini's selling line is Roosters "expect to be Top 4" - that's wonderful, how did those expectations do for you against Manly last week and Brisbane this evening?

His other pitch: "join a stable club". Oh you mean the club whose halfback abused a dog last year, fled to Thailand and derailed the entire season? The club who released a 5/8th that went on to bring Cronulla the premiership? The club who had to sack a halfback for continued alcohol issues? Mmm mmm give me some of that delicious guaranteed stability, yum yum.

Sydney Roosters legend Anthony Minichiello lays it on the line for James Tedesco: Join me and become a better player
>
Andrew Webster
>
The Roosters have laid it out on a platter for James Tedesco: come and learn the art of fullback play from Anthony Minichiello for less money at a rock-solid club – or take the bigger deal on offer at Wests Tigers and learn little.
>
For the past two weeks, Minichiello has been in the ear of the off-contract Tigers star, whose future beyond this season is degenerating into a circus. The Bulldogs are also under the Big Top.
>
"They definitely are interested," a frank Tedesco told Macarthur radio station 91.3FM on Thursday morning. "Those two teams are pretty strong clubs that I'll have to consider. I think clubs like the Bulldogs and Roosters … you know they're always going to be strong, and they've always been run from the top very powerfully. You know they're always going to be up there. The Tigers have always been down the bottom, we've always had off-field dramas and that stuff gets quite annoying over the years when you have to put up with it. That stability at other clubs is tempting I guess when you think about it."
>
Mini and Teddy have history.
>
They played alongside each other for Italy at the 2013 World Cup, but Tedesco has long idolised the former Australian, NSW and Roosters premiership-winning fullback. He sees him as a mentor and guiding light, and has even adopted his strict diet to help fuel his performance.
>
Minichiello has asked Tedesco to seriously weigh up his options and consider where he will develop as a player.
>
He can join a stable club where finishing in the top four is an expectation, where he can play under a leading coach in Trent Robinson, and where he can learn from one of the best fullbacks of the modern-era in Minichiello.
>
Or he can stay at the Tigers, who have had four coaches in five seasons and who are being torn apart with instability in the front office and facing a player exodus.
>
Money could be the key. It usually is.
>
Leading player manager Isaac Moses – who represents the Tigers' so-called "Big Four" – had been in negotiations with Roosters chairman Nick Politis last year about a move to Moore Park for Tedesco.
>
According to several Roosters sources, it all broke down when Moses stood up one of the game's most feared men for a breakfast meeting. Politis has been sending Moses' calls to voicemail ever since, including in the past day or so.
>
Moses has been using other avenues to speak to Politis but Politis doesn't seem too fussed about rushing the situation.
>
It's also understood the Roosters are not prepared to pay Tedesco $1 million a season.
>
They might go close to $800,000 but they won't be matching the reported offer from the Tigers of $4.5 million over four years.
>
The Roosters say claims they are poised to offer a $6 million deal over five years just isn't right and that no deal has been tabled.
>
As all this whirrs around in Sydney, Moses is set to meet new Tigers coach Ivan Cleary in Townsville about the futures of Tedesco, captain and prop Aaron Woods and Mitchell Moses, who wants an immediate release to join the Eels.
>
The Tigers play the Cowboys on Saturday night.
>
Cleary, whose announcement as the new Tigers coach on Monday is a distant memory, said the uncertainty over the salary cap from next season had clouded the situation.
>
"We had offers on the table, which I think is pretty well documented, for not just Mitchell," Cleary told Triple M. "Over the weekend there was a bit of an adjustment in the salary cap and the forecasting for next year. We decided to prioritise for James Tedesco and Aaron Woods and we withdrew an offer for Mitchell on the proviso that we need to have a look and go back to him but my understanding is he has signed [with Parramatta].
>
"We're very keen on securing both James and Aaron and that's basically as far as I've gone. I'll be meeting with Isaac over the the next couple of days. Hopefully we can sort out a situation one way or the other. It's really important that these players are on the bus and are really committed to what I'm sure will be a bright future."
>
While Tedesco said he wants to be on the bus. "Obviously the priority is to stay at the Tigers and the performances lately haven't been very up to scratch," he said. "The money is not an issue. Just our performances need to improve. Ivan might come in and prove that and I might see that long-term we will be able to win premierships. Also recruiting as well, I think we need to make some good signings in the next few years to be a strong club. Our squad at the moment is quite strong, we just haven't been consistent for many years."

Spot on. Of course it's about the money as much as they want to downplay it.
