James Tedesco Signs with Roosters [Official]

I think they all (the big 4) want to stay here but now they aren't in charge of the script anymore.

Brooks, to his credit, has decided to sign but at a reduced rate.
I'm sure he knows that even the $$$s that he signed on for is more than what he has been giving on the field.

Moses has been spoilt by being overpaid since his debut and by the "hype" that he is the future of the Tigers. Suddenly the script changes - JT gone and in comes a no nonsense sheriff. The reviewed contract is less than what was previously offered and the kid has a dummy spit. As kids tend to do he picks up his bat and goes home, telling everyone he wants out- now.

Tedesco raises a few rich clubs names, in my view, to up his price. The new sheriff won't pay overs so Teddy says he is in demand by some clubs with no financial troubles at all.

Woods has been disturbingly quiet. The one guy I thought would really want to stay is saying absolutely nothing. This is our on field leader? Again, I choose to believe it is about sucking every dollar they can out of the Tigers. Nothing wrong with that. I believe now that Moses has kicked his toys, more of his budgeted money will now go towards Tedesco and Woods.

For what it's worth, just by Moses going will strengthen our team next year. Broses has never worked.

**<big>supposedly the Roosters offer is $6m over 5 years..</big>**

Greenberg has a lot to answer for IMO…why have a salary cap when rich clubs can rort it through TPA's..None of these wealthy clubs strictly adhere to the TPA rule of "arms length"....look at the Eels....Come on man!.

Look at the roosters roster, how do you fit a $1.2mill player in, it defies belief.

Whatever the outcome …. club/coach needs to have the answer by early next week.
Then we all move forward.
Cleary rightly said the we may need to go backwards before we move forward.

Easy 200k cap ..1million TPA simple the salary cap is a sham it has been happening for years.

I thought clubs supposed to pay a player "market" value in their cap…in other words if Teddy's market value is $600-$800k thats what should be reflected in the cap...anything above that "market value" can be in the form of aTPA

These guys should be gaged from talking to the media till they settle their contracts. All they are doing is hurting our brand name. It seems to me that their is a bit of friction between Pascoe and the now big 2

I think now that it will be Cleary calling the shots from here on in, Pascoe will be managing the front of the shop.

"Market Value" is still used for a player. so Teddys 'market value" would have to be at least 750k anything above would be tpa

If either Woods or Tedesco go, I will be disappointed as a WT fan , but dont want the club to pay the extortionist salaries that they are demanding, Tedesco is injury prone and Woods is not a shadow of JWH - have him in a heart beat

Who would seriously be stumping up $1M (or part of $1M) per year to prop up a player deal? Could you really find 10 x $100K benefactors over 6 years?

I also thought the NRL did not allow under-valued contracts to be registered any more? That was part of the issue with Parra trying to get Folau back to the game.

Yeah, Id love to know how the cap auditor comes to just what the nominal or market value of a player is

Talk has turned to TPA's now. In that sense it is a matter of when you can't beat em join em.
Tigers management need to know how to be financially creative with TPA's, a'la Roosters and Brisbane.

For pete's sake we know that the TPA's are not at arm's length, e.g. would James Roberts have been offered the same TPA if he signed for a Sydney club? No way! It was obviously the sweetener conditional upon him signing with Brisbane. So obvious….he wasn't even offered the same TPA when he played down the road in Robina!!
The whole thing is a bastardized system and we either get with the picture or suffer, all the while crying foul while we languish....

The cynic in me suggests it would be a dartboard for each individual club with different values for each club.

Someone has to work out the real value of the Roosters team in true worth Salary cap dollars ,then the real evidence of the TPA system rort will be there to see!

I agree something really has to be done about TPAs. The situation, as it is, is totally unfair and underhanded. To be honest, it makes a mockery of the cap. The Tigers, whether through their own fault or not, DESPERATELY NEED to keep a player like Tedesco. This whole backroom deal era has created another 'Manly pillaging the poor' scenario that made the Sea Eagles so hated. Back in the 80s it was Wests who were the main sufferers then as well.
But back to the thread….I think Tedesco wants to stay for the right money but, more importantly, for the right assurances from the coach and management that the roster will be strengthened and the drama within the club stamped out.

Media blowing things out of proportion as usual. Drama is having 4 pivot members of the team coming off contract at the same time and all managed by the same person. Which has been going on for 2 years now.

To be fair Ivan will get this dealt with quickly and has already progressed more in 4 days than the past 2 years.
