OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Harsh to judge him on last night. Game was officiated differently to the rest of the season. Broncs wrestled in every tackle from the 1st min to 80min, ruck considerably slow. Look how quiet Api's game was.
Agreed. Easy to see the tactic from Broncos to just give away 6 agains if need be as long as they didn't let us get any momentum with a speedy play the ball. Worked in stifling our attack for the most part and made Luai ineffective.

In that 1st half, I don't know how there wasn't a binning for repeated infringements.

I can see what you’re saying but think they are separate issues.
Yes, Maka had a game he would rather forget but hopefully learns from but Luai wasn’t great for two reasons.Firstly, he looked a bit underdone. Timing and confidence were missing. He wasn’t digging into the line and was noticeable compared to when Madden came on to the field.
Secondly, I think we probably went to his side too often which was where Staggs was and their defensive strength. I am not sure whether he was calling for the ball but we should have shifted to their right more often.
That’s true.

Staggs is a weapon eh. Incredibly strong defender.

We dominated field position and possession wise. There's really no excuse here apart from being underdone (in which case if he actually were, he shouldn't have been selfish and ruined what was working).

As he was this week.
The defenders/coach have also figured out Terrell May.
Send in 3 players, lock up the ball, allow him to push for a couple of meters then knock him down and roll him on his back. Followed by a slow PTB. Repeat whole game.
Meanwhile the other defenders are in position to defend the next runner.
Terrell needs to get off the post meter gains stat. and onto the PTB stats. It's slowing the attack.
But a great defender.
