OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

They definitely didn’t do the basics. Hence why we lost the final to the Warriors.
Muffed the Dragons semi worse, at the warriors game you could feel the momentum change after they started coming for us… rowdy or lote puts a finger on inu instead of spectating and we get away with it…
The dragons game - we had so much ball down their end and couldn’t capitalise… that grubber down Boyd’s throat in goal only to let him out still turns my stomach… All that time down there and couldn’t clutch it - as soon as they got within range… game over

Literally everyone back then knew that Benji played in the 6 jersey and Lui in the 7 ... but they played like the opposite.

Lui kicked and did the basics.
Benji & Farah show, for sure.

The 20-21 year old NRL ‘game manager’ apparently…
Biggest load of BS ever!!

So now Tim Moltzen (09) a Legit 7 as well?
😂😂😂

Lui played 5/8 his whole career to NRL... And mostly 5/8 for the 10 years after he left....
This insinuation he was a legit 7 because of a couple years here in NRL is kidding....
It’s not an insinuation. He might’ve had a CCM level grand final performance on his numbers tracked in the #7.

We just bottled it badly and Heighno can’t feed a scrum

Tell us why instead of sooking on every post.
Benji and Robbie never learned how to manage a game of footy until they both left this club and saw how it should be done elsewhere.
Lui got it. If he could have handled his piss a bit better and kept his hands to himself, we may have managed another premiership with him.

Back then, Benji and Robbie couldn't agree on who was the boss.

Gibbs went off with a knee injury in the Warriors game resulted in them losing the middle.

Wattaya know, A QLDer banging on about a nufty Qld Half....

He wasn't a game manager, He was a 5/8 (For most of his career - Here, and elsewhere)
that played a bit part role here - Well Behind Farah and Marshall...
Only playing 7 in NRL here - Because of the bloke in the 6 - Like Moltzen (The 5/8) before him.

I can't tell you why, I'm not any of them... I would suggest it might be a lack of ability?
- Considering Lui only played another 40 odd games in the 10 years of his career in the NRL after he left the WT's at 21.
Also didn't make any major waves in the comp playing 4 years with one of the best halves
anyone here is ever likely to see..
(Again, Playing alongside a player that played 6 or 7 much the same way)
Where he started in the 7 before moving into the 6, and then shipped off to the UK so the Cows could win the comp.

Also didn't have much of a voice, Rob is a very quiet personality.... Might be another reason for you.

Game manager? No chance in hell.
Good player on his day - But a natural ball runner, Not an organiser
(And certainly not a manager)
Won 5/8 of the year twice in 20's IIRC - Behind a good game managing 7 in Juniors - Dessie Nichols
He wasn't even a 7 in Super League FFS...

Banging on like he was because he wore that jumper for 2 years here when he was a baby,
with some level of success....
Just doesn't change how it actually was (No matter how Maroon those goggles are)

ps: It could also be argued that Benji or Farah both never really learnt to manage a game...

Co-Inciding with a Fresh Feleti coming on from the Bench in a last minute change...
Still saddens me.

We were on a downward spiral though.....
I still have those old games - We weren't as good in 2011 as we were in 2010....
2012 just re-inforced it and the last decade confimed it.

Right.
So according to you he didn’t manage any games and Rob and Benji didn’t either, yet we made consecutive finals series. For the only time in our history.
OK.

Correct - He was a ball running 5/8, We made play in a 7 jumper.
But not just me....
Most of Lui's coaches as well I'd assume? (Considering they also played him at 5/8)

We won those years because of a primed Benji Marshall Magic,
And a backrower named Ellis putting some Steel in us (And fear in the opposition)

2012 Benji Slowed up a bit, Couldn't adapt his game to it quick enough...
Ellis was out Injured a bunch - The results we got reflected exactly that.

Should have won the Roosters game in 2010 by far the better team. Some really poor decisions went against us. Ellis had two tries disallowed. The one where Pearce and Benji had a dust up was a tough call considering Pearce was niggling and cost us a fair try when Benji retaliated.
And the last scrum stuff up - .. mind boggling.

He played a lot of Halfback at the Cowboys.

It takes more than that.
Benji couldn’t work his magic if he wasn’t constantly provided with good field position.

Bullshit. 🤣
We were favourites to win the premiership that year until everyone saw us trying to play without a halfback.

Don't think any of us will ever learn to live with that game....
In 50 years we'll be like the old Maggies fans banging on about Darcy Lawler

He played a lot of Halfback at the Cowboys.
Until they realised he wasn't a 7 and moved him to his natural 5/8 position, Then replaced him with a better 5/8
It takes more than that.

Field position created by mostly Marshall and Farah
Edit - Didn't we lead the comp for most long range tries in those years?
Bullshit. 🤣

He wouldn't have made much difference in 2012
- Just like he didn't make much difference in the other clubs he played for....

The numbers don't lie... I'm done with you tonight big guy...
Nite, Nite now ole Stryk...

The mood and momentum shift at the ground was noticeable... You could see and feel what was coming but there was nothing we could do... Terrible helpless feeling

Let's not forget that semi against the Warriors in 2011..........it felt we were playing with 11............Lote and Rowdys first game back for 12 weeks and we still nearly won.

And we lost our best two in Marshall and Gareth with 20 to go.

The sight of Bryce been good enough to get back and possibly stop Kenny -Dowal after the intercept 100 minutes in and just get stepped sticks out in my mind.

His only miss in about 400.

I just rewatched round 18 riff vs storm. Cogger was doing most of the kicking? Any other games where JL is the dominant half/kicking team into position?
I'm assuming this is going to be his role with us.
He won’t be the halfback here, think just like Benji.

Also - a great, smart smokescreen by Richo to protect him from an avalanche of bad press if Riff don’t 4-peat.

Penriff keep saying they don't release players early...
Today they let Hoskings go early to sign up with another club! Obviously just when it suits them which is fair enough, just don't keep stating that you never release players early then 😒
