OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Very surprised.

Responsible and measured comments put forward by Danny the Weasel but I don't think they were the responses that the pommy, ear chewing, Wests Tigers hating git James Graham was hoping to hear.

Was expecting to hear nothing but gloom and doom from the Weasel which is exactly what our mate James Graham was hoping for.

Better luck next time Jimmy. 🤣

Graham is a germ

I think you can get a direct flight from Townsville to Port Moresby only a few hours easy let the family live in Townsville on the water
A lot of Air New Guinea pilots live in Cairns and commute to Port Moresby. I guess a similar arrangement could be done. Have done a few short stints working in Port Moresby in the aviation game, it would be a very hard if you had a young family

Luai has 2 or 3 very young children i think??
Id be surprised if he took them if he did go...thatd mean his missus stays too youd think
I may well be way off
I think he'll get all the panthers guys like to'o over who are close friends and have similar aged kids. Would make it a lot more bearable for them.

If I was an NRL player contemplating going to the Chiefs I would want an iron clad tax ruling from the ATO about exactly what the conditions are relating to the tax situation.

They're a bunch of snakes 🐍🐍🐍 and I wouldn't want to get burnt on one of their technicalities.

Won’t surprise me if in a couple years, they’re based in far north Qld and just travel to PNG to play home games. Maybe a training session or two. GWS were supposed to be based in Blacktown originally. That was the whole purpose of the second Sydney AFL team. They lasted in Blacktown, maybe a year. I don’t think enough NRL players will want to live there, regardless of the tax rorts .

One of our more reliable posters is saying he is getting whispers Bula is also a big chance of joining the land of the tax free dollars.

Sadly it’s very hard to compete with the lure of tax free environment especially for a club like ours. Iam sure for some of the wealthy clubs it’s not such a problem because they can make up the short fall in many mysterious ways, like they have been doing for years

Is there a chance this is all orchestrated?

A scenario I didnt consider is that benji has encouraged this to help jarome negotiate a pay increase at the tigers as part of removing the clauses.

Benji acted swiftly on the back of chaos locking in a 5 year deal for himself.

The club only has a few days to act. All power sits with Jarome.

Michael Carayannis said on the radio SEN this afternoon, he feels JL will be a Chief in 2028.

That's very cool, JL can fire up for the next two years and we have a truckload of coin to use wisely.

Good, he can take up our option at the lower rate for 2027 and give us some breathing space to sort out who is next in line.

Thats my biggest worry not Luai going it will be how many follow him there if he goes.

I had a similar thought, could also make Bulla really consider his place and where his future is 🤔 once Jerome Pick's and stick's long term with the Tigers

I was just watching Fox 500 where fletcher , pointed out that the players have to live in PNG to get the tax free money .
He also point out that when the players return to Australia they will not have to pay tax on there earnings.
The thing that gets me is WE the little people have to cover there tax , because moron ALBO has put up $600,000,000 million, wish I could get a tax free Job

$600M is a ridiculous sum to start an NRL franchise. Not paying income tax in a foreign jurisdiction when still a resident is not easy. Will be interesting to see if it’s really as tax free as being made out or whether the govt will allow it as part of their handout.
