OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

Don't talk to me you went MIA in the I'm not convinced thread
You can look at it that way.

It's not easy to post a thread like that - I can't win I can't lose. Each way - ask Ink Give me something cause at least I didn't go missing for 15 years like our team. I just wanted time - cause I'm still not convinced. I never went MIA. I went MAMA.

There is absolutely no way anyone could begrudge him for earning double elsewhere at 31 years old

I just hope it doesn’t derail our season, we lock up Tito, May’s and Fainu’s and that we are able to continue to build

That puts the AD to lock argument to bed, Javon and Latu will fight it out for the vacant jersey in the long term

Everyone needs to chill for a second, we havent won the thing yet, not even close, weve got people banging on here like we have the same tier team like the 1992 Dream Team after round 8. By the end of 2027 it might be a blessing if the squad gets some movement in it if they have had 3 years as a team and done jack shit....or maybe we win it this year and next year?

I'd be surprised if the club hasn't known about this for some time. Deals of this magnitude and the reception he received aren't put together overnight. I also believe the NRL wanted this to happen to give the Chiefs credibility.
To HELL with the NRL .. how about helping the tigers with credibility by at least making sure we have owners that want us to succeed instead of the pack of wankers that cruel the Wests Tigers every chance they get

Maybe that mural was justified 😂. Little sad but as most are saying and imma repeat it for the 99th time, the real issue is the others who could leave, feel less worried about Fainu’s but wouldn’t mind chucking a lifeline to Tyrone May to keep May’s

I understand your frustration. I think him moving on at 31 for the salary he would potentially earn is a good outcome for WTs. We may see a few player re-signings from this decision.

Penrith won it many times. What's your point. When does it ever end?
It's a circus at best in the side show alley of reality. You want to play then pay.

Honestly do you really blame him... we are talking him doubling his salary, being the highest paid player in the game... he won't care they run last every year.... at this stage in his career it's all about $$$

Most of us in here faced with a similar situation would take the money and run... be honest

I’m not fussed on Luai leaving on field

It’s the fact that May, Turuva and others are also off-contract at the same time

Terrell literally said he is willing to leave for the right price
100%. Exactly the same sentiment.

Given that Terrell has mentioned he was about to extend prior to the HBG coup, if we lose the May brothers and the wheels start to come off, then I'm going to be incredibly pissed. That would be completely down to HBG.

If they also haven't foreseen this and acted accordingly, then it again shows their ineptness.

If it's just Luai, and we've locked these other guys in the background, then hats off to them.

Benji Marshall joined the Tigers from Keebra Park because a 5 year old Luai told him to according to this bloke.
Were you even alive then. We won that competition on the back of identification and development of one of the best bunch of juniors coming through with a few hard heads to guide them

Penrith won 4 comps an remained competitive using the same model.

We have not made the finals in 15 years. We cannot identify junior talent & we can’t keep them (the Luali’i brothers are off to Perth). That is before discussing whether blokes Galvin & DaSilva were wrongly identified as talent, signed to bad contracts or just couldn’t be retained).

We lost most of the big 4.

The club is a basket case & the future will consist of:
- identifying talent and giving experience before handing them off to a competitive club
- overpaying names as the next hope only to see them fail to meet expectations
- not having to consult a calendar around when you’re playing in September, because you aren’t.

As someone that has supported various iterations of the club, it is a return to standard programming.

Last 8 weeks has been fun.

Do you honestly think we will circle the wagons , block out the noise and make the finals this year? I hope so.

More likely we will implode. Media speculation around whether Luai going is the cause, club saying all solid. We are on the up. Miss the 8. Rinse & repeat next year before competing for the spoon again in 28 with new clubs and others that cannot competently manage a roster.

Arrr well, he's still a Tiger for the rest of this year and next , he's still going to give his all ,but at least now we know where we stand and the next gen can be locked down... We can definitely win without him, he isn't lighting the stage up by any means, but definitely brings good energy to the playing group.
