OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

This is pretty stock standard for any half or five eighth worth their salt. So I'm glad to hear he was tearing them a new one..
Sadly didn’t work though. I’m not sure how we get any more out of our forward pack, we’ve just about played every card and most are insipid. Still think we were best at the start of the year with May and Pole starting and Hunt coming off the bench, but it’s all fallen to shit now. May is buggered holding up the pack every week, Pole has not been the same since returning from injury and Hunt is wallowing in reserve grade. Twal, Seyfarth and Bird are meh, the Fainus are good when they’re on song, but still raw.

He offered nothing, he just went through the motions, no impact. Would be get selected in any other team? Probably not, he is a KOE player at best
Don’t agree, thought he hit hard in defence and ran well. Was e a star, no. But for his, what forth game he is getting better. May and pole were poor and again our old soo looked tired.

I hear your disappointment and pain.
I was deadset against Benji getting the gig but he has done better than expected in terms of attracting players - hopefully the results will start to come.
Not too many seasons left in this old putz.
Benji may have attracted the players, but like previous seasons , he has tarnished their reputations by his lack of coaching skills. This squad is much better than last year, but we will probably spoon again.

Or rather, where do you see any strengths in our forwards?
Terrell is a no brainer and we should make him a tiger for life...

Pole, I am trying not to be too judgemental of him because before the injury he was on fire. He has a long term future here.. it's a question of how we get him to lift to the same standard that we see from Terrell each week. He is also only 23 and front rowers don't usually find their form till a bit later on. So there is alot of upside with him.

Samuela I am confused as to his best position.. but much like Pole I think his age has a bit to do with it. I am leaning toward him being in the front row rotation... Start him alongside Terrell and have Pole coming on to make impact (what people were hoping from hunt.

Sione I get confused as to where he should play... Is he a front rower? Or do we transform him into something else? Is he a potential lock or is that just trying to find a spot for him?

Twal should be coming off the bench.
Sukkar is young and I think could take the place of twal in the next year or so, but probably needs more time in KOE to work on his attack.

Seyfarth I really don't know anymore..

Bird just isnt any good the way we are playing him...

So my pack would be

8. May
9. Api
10. Samuela
11.
12. KPP ( there's more hope in this than anything else)
13.

15. Pole
16. Twal
17. Sione

So id be looking at someone like a Fifita for the #11 role... And then we need a #13.. and maybe that's douhei?

What do you think of my assessment?

The thing that needs to be taken into account with edge backrowers, especially young and inexperienced ones, if the ball doesn't go their way its very hard to get good stats. He is forced to play in a very narrow lane, hit the line as an option runner. He may get the ball, he may not. The ball may go the other side 65% of the time as well. We may have no good field position to present good ball to him. All these things have happend to Sukkar the past 2 weeks. Its been most us going to the left. IMO its best to judge whatever involvement he does have, and for me, he looks strong in contact in defence and attack.

You have done your best with what we have. Bit like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

We're paying $1.2m a year to a guy who's only good trait is his ability to put grubbers in.

He's genuinely a bog average first grader. Most overrated in the league by a mile. Had the benefit of playing 2nd receiver on the greatest team in modern history where Cleary and Yeo did all the work organising.

Don't give me this whole "he sets standards" crap. 1. He doesn't and 2. That's what a coach is meant to do. He gives away penalties each week and shrinks even more than your jumper in the drier when the big moments comes.
Don't forget the Galvin saga (as much as I despise lachy and his manager). The bullying is what made him leave. Wonder if luai was the one who did the bullying... got rid of a great player, and he's thieving off us

Luai has not starred in any match since putting our colours on.
And did anyone notice Latu in my mind had his worst game playing next to Luai in today's game.
Brought down nathan cleary in origin too. NSW win game 1. Lose both games when luai comes in. Both games luai puts in bad kicks in the first half which sets the tone. He has made a habit of having good 2nd halves when the game is already over. Think back to cowboys, raiders and both NSW games. Too little, too late. tigers virus

I hate his guts today. We started really well against the warriors and he gave away another stupid penalty backing into kick chasers. Does he think refs are blind. How many stupid pointless penalties does this guy need to give away before our coach says something??

I just knew he would do something stupid early in the game. I wouldn't be heartbroken to see him take his option and go.

Don't know about "got rid of a great player" but agree with the remainder of your post.

Luai has tried hard and poor guy has lost about 10 games in a row now.

But his game has gone backwards since being here and we only have us to blame. It is very hard to play like an elite player when you're not given the same resources as other clubs.

Poor guy???

He can try not blowing our chances with stupid penalties.

Luai is not our problem. We have below average players all over the park.

Genuine first graders Bula, Turuva, Luai, Sam Fainu, Pole, Api, May. Borderline Toa, Douihei, Latu Fainu, Sione Fainu, Twal, Skelton.

Unless we have played develop and or come in it’s the same story. Only delusional fans expected a win against the warriors today at mount smart.

Frustrated or not reality needs to set in with the fans

It’s a good assessment I think.
Nt sure about this KPP bloke.
Plays like a bit of a puss considering the size of him.
