OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I wish I shared your optimism mate. Apart from Morris, who has some coaching credentials, our coaches are rank novices. I like them all as former great players of our club but I haven’t seen any evidence of good coaching all year.
We need an influx of around 6 quality players but we won’t get them.
I hear your disappointment and pain.
I was deadset against Benji getting the gig but he has done better than expected in terms of attracting players - hopefully the results will start to come.
Not too many seasons left in this old putz.

Nor me mate. Turning 74 shortly and there’s a good chance I won’t see another title.

The problem is much greater than Luai.. it starts around the middle and the edges...

Any successful team has a spine thats trained together and played lots of games together..

This was Luais second game with Latu
Our forwards were embarrassed today, no grunt at all, we were exposed for not having strength or fire in our forwards.

Easy, we lack a fiery front rower ( I thought Hunt was it but alas, not yet), dynamic/ running second rowers( Kikau/ Martin/Young) and a ball playing lock( Yeoh). Apart from that we’re great
( sarcasm).
Like Stefano was supposed to be - or late career Klemmer....

Lazarus was never particularly fiery - nor is Haas!

We actually need equal effort on BOTH sides of the ball!

And that is why Doueihi has always been a liability in every position he's played!

Had a mate at the game , he messaged me , Luai not a happy camper said he was screaming at the forwards all game and not in a nice way plenty F bombs , he was really pissed at them , said we just looked like had not much idea , he is a kiwi and said coach brilliant player but may not be the one to get us up the ladder

1/2 the problem is the continual blow ups n restructures. We need to show stability (and I don't mean through wooden spoons) to show players we are a good club.
Blowing it up will only mean starting from scratch again.
Whether Benji is up to coaching needs to be played out further. Hopefully we will find some better players to bolster the team next year and build on what has started this year.
That’s brilliant - let’s get some better players.
Why didn’t our management think of doing that?
🙄

Where do you see Terrell, Fanua, Samuela and Sione fitting in?

This is pretty stock standard for any half or five eighth worth their salt. So I'm glad to hear he was tearing them a new one..

We're paying $1.2m a year to a guy who's only good trait is his ability to put grubbers in.

He's genuinely a bog average first grader. Most overrated in the league by a mile. Had the benefit of playing 2nd receiver on the greatest team in modern history where Cleary and Yeo did all the work organising.

Don't give me this whole "he sets standards" crap. 1. He doesn't and 2. That's what a coach is meant to do. He gives away penalties each week and shrinks even more than your jumper in the drier when the big moments comes.
Him mouthing off to players did it for me. Take some accountability he is playing nowhere near his price tag.

more context please .Was he doing a Joey Johns at the start or end of his career, verballing his players ,dumb rc's are a dime a dozen. Or just 1 on a mega deal

Same here mate i am 72 and i have given up hope of seeing my 3rd premiership (1969 and 2005 will have to do) but i sure as hell would like to see us being competitive and a realistic chance of the semis again but even that is starting to look unlikely.
