OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

I must say I haven't heard much from Sean ? since he assumed the interim role. He started off with a lot of bluster but has gone quite. Not convinced as yet but happy to give it a little more time. He certainly isn't a Richo
To be fair, how often do you hear about/from the CEO of other teams. Most just get on with their job

Meh I’m not bothered. Yes I’d rather he stayed but 2028 is a long way off. I’m not convinced he’s great value for money right now and that’s a long time to see if Latu Fainu is the next step.

Personally I think PNG would be a bad move for him. They’re more likely to benefit from a structured half like Cleary than an ad lib guy like Luai (they’ll have plenty of them).

Anyways we’ll see what happens.

It’s been said in other posts but sharing my opinion.

Luai will play for us in 27 and give it his all. That should be enough for the culture benefit. That alone is a wonderful return on investment

Luai is obviously very motivated by money. Gross earnings is not money, net earnings is money. Net, he will get just under double. If he is the face of the team in PNG his advertising deals for that market will also be huge. Add in he will get a four year deal and he knows he can set his family up for life.

I accept the points about the unknowns surrounding Luai replacements (injuries for Latu, unproven for others). That said, 5/8 is by far our strongest pipeline of talent. Freeing up $1.2m per year in 2028 as well as giving those three clarity that they have something definitive to aim for… amazing!

Im happy either way.

OMG Madden has played 3 good games for us ,, Luai has played on 5 grand finals mate .. is an origin star and a national captain .. he adds a lot , I also like Jock and want him playing but saying that he brings more than our captain is absolutely ridiculous and laughable… 😂🤣
Talking rubbish..no-one is saying Madden is a better player...but Luai just isnt comtributing $1.2 mill value and hasnt for some time.
Was great in changing the club, but thats now done hopefully and we need to look beyond
$$ arent limitless, and if we have to make difficult choices like all clubs do...we have much less expensive alternatives

Samuela & May’s aren’t contracted for that long. There’s already flaws in your succession plans. But I’m sure if Samuela decides to leave someone will say there’s a junior better than him. Lol
Mate you’re just going to whinge a [This word has been automatically removed] like a lunatic over something that hasn’t even happened yet . Noting I say is going to stop you . Talk about being paralysed in the moment . Jesus Christ ..

If we had to bring a fullback in next week to fill in for Bula I’d say Brookes is physically more ready for 1st grade , he is a gun , and strong and lightning quick,, I’d say he’d fit in well with the correct structure
If that was the clubs opinion the KOE and jersey flegg fullbacks would be swapped . They’re the same age .

Makes you wonder why Luai is interested to begin with then being a family.man ?

Double the money means a lot to some people
Because double 300k(600k in Aus) is nowhere near the same optically as double 700k- to 1.4m . 3 years of of that , or even 4 and that’s life changing . Invest it wisely and your grandkids never have to work .
For a guy from next to nothing in the druitt , who’s done everything in the nrl , and now he’s helped potentially turn around his childhood club , i would be doing the same thing .
In soccer the bag is a Saudi Arabia contract or maybe the MLS . In NRL it’s the chiefs .i really don’t see what the issue is.
I will say this, living in a compound sux major balls. Even if you have everything . It’s not home. You figure that out real quick .

Planty will go there mate

How can anyone trust a process when that process involved sacking the independent board in december leading to the resignation of our best ceo in the joint ventures history?

No one should trust a thing here.
I feel sorry for you that you've had to keep your seething agenda to yourself for these past few weeks.
I really do. I can only begin to imagine the internal frustrations that it caused.
But now you have the remotest of long bows to connect something that may or may not lead to something which may or may not being a bad thing for WT . . . . into another HBG bash.
Puke, and then yawn.

Invest it wisely? Sure, gotta be smart with your money.

But do it so your grandkids never have to work? Absolutely not! That would create really weak entitled humans that would never go through adversity.

Won’t acknowledge Luai was a reason they even joined the club either
Definitely a reason. Doubtful he was the reason for any of them.
I'd prefer Luai doesn't leave but don't think it is a huge problem if he does. He will never play to his contract value.
Yes, the intangibles and culture change I believe is/was very much driven by him. So in this respect I believe he has been invaluable to the club.
Going forward I don't think the new culture will leave with him, nor do I believe we will see others leave because he has gone. It's never good to have a player of his quality walk out the door but I think the club will be well placed to better utilise his salary if he chooses to do so.

It’s also a little disrespectful for others to not mention that Benji has been a big factor with the culture change as well ..he is certainly the main driver now regardless that Luai is still tihere

All I’m saying is every time a player wants to leave someone is quick to tell you we have a better junior coming through. If the plan is to build the club around the May’s and Fainu’s why haven’t they been extended.
