Yep, whether all or part of that is applied this year or next, WT no longer have that money to spend elsewhere on our top squad in 2027, as it could have gone to front loading others. The result is the same, half a million down.
Those dollars would get an above average player, or be spent on positions 28-30 with a little change left over next season.

I thought Luai was good for the club until he announced his signing with the Chiefs. He was poor, especially when told to look for another club in 2027.
Got a feeling Benji was overruled on that.
Before that, although Luai rarely reached the heights of his Panthers and NSW form, he was our best player at times. He was setting up tries
Biggest problems were his avoidance of playing straight and a kicking game that was too often ineffective.
It was time to go with an unhappy ending.

Luai posted footage of himself at Taumeasinau Island in Samoa on Tuesday and tagged in the Samoan rugby league.
It comes as Luai’s move to PNG continues to be a gold mine for the former Tigers star after he landed one of the biggest third party deals in NRL history.
Luai, who already had an agreement in place to be the face of Pepsi in the Pacific, has signed a long-term deal to promote PNG consumer brand Trukai Industries.
Parramatta-bound Jarome Luai signed off on his latest PNG Chiefs third party sponsor.
Alex Twal was named player of the year for the struggling club. Luai has already announced he will leave the Tigers at the end of the season as he prepares to spend next season at Parramatta before moving to PNG to join the Chiefs for their inaugural season in the NRL.

Will always be a black mark on Marshall as a coach in my opinion, as soon as Luai signed with PNG he should have been dropped, Ryles did the same with Brown, yes he was on less money but had the guts to do it. We could have seen Latu or Javone and see what the future holds a lot earlier than we did.

Yeah, I just don't get these gap year signings either G what a dumb arse idea they are, look at our last star recruit Geyer what a champion he turned out to be.
At least we were smart enough to get rid of Luai with his constant going forward PNG interruptions, that makes Parra dumber in my book and what's that say about Perth signing Geyer.

Benji has shown over and over again he only thinks about the next game. He doesn't think long term. This was first evident when he played Galvin on the left all year after knowing Luai was coming. Then Galvin had to start from scratch on the right the following season. Benji has no clue

I have no problem with a player getting the best deal for him and his family. What is becoming a growing concern though is our inability to extract the best from our roster. There often seems to be a continual conflict between a players goals and aspirations and the club’s. And you have to wonder why?
There doesn’t seem to be a middle ground reached?
Luai did say he would be happy to stay at Wests Tigers while the club treated him and his family well. Obviously there was a a hidden message in those words.
Then after going gangbusters for 8 rounds our wheels fell off and the club started contract talks with all Samoans.
This reactionary behaviour wouldn’t be necessary if we had serious well intentioned board members.
Benji is a yes man, the HBG board love him. He’s one of them.
If HBG can’t find middle ground they blow up the place, putting another nail in the coffin of the WT esprit de corpse.
