Jason Taylor ...THREAD...

Dingo, we have had a terrible team since 2011 and we've had three coaches. The issue isn't the coach. It's petulance, it's white anting. The team isn't set up to be able to handle any kind of leadership. They all think they know better. The club needs a clean out of the playing roster (and David Kidwell).

2011 we had a great team, should have won the comp. (not to forget the johnny cronk period of 2007-2009) Weve been shat since 2012 when Sheens was well over it and Benji only had eyes for Union. The club needs a clean out from the CEO to the janitors. Theres only 4 players id keep, Teddy, Woods, Simona and Nofo, the rest can go play group 21 in Scone, although they may be in trouble as you get picked on form there.

Being that I am in a position right now where I was elevated to a leadership position at my company and now have to lead peers who don't want to be led, I sympathise with the Tigers administration. I don't think there's anything for it aside from:

1) Someone they respect absolutely hammering them until they stop being idiots
2) Firing them

Im a Franchisee of a large department store. I have 40+ employees, I can tell you from experience the second option works best, piss them off and get someone that wants to work, dont have time for their crap. Once an idiot always an idiot. I used to think option 1 but fool on me. Initially you have to spend time to train the new guy, but after that, away they go. Same thing with these losers that play for the Tigers, cut them and get players that actually want to tackle. Get rid of the rot. Didnt the Tigers have that as a motto for a while about leichhardt "stop the rot" should be brought back.

Taylor wont be sacked any time soon. The ceo is of the opinion we should of won 4 out of our 6 losses and yesterday was just a hiccup.

What is the bet Taylor wont make many changes though?

OK so the Robbie Farah thread got closed after 332 pages. But I wanted to revisit the topic here - people were asking what happens if JT demotes Farah at the start of 2016 and we start winning, or selects him and we are losing.

Fast forward and Farah's injury makes the call on behalf of the coach, and we are 2/3 without him, 0/5 with him.

Thoughts?

Yeah, it's all Farah's fault nobody else in the team wants to tackle anybody. :deadhorse:

"Of our five prior losses, I believe that realistically we could have and should have won four of those games so, in terms of the overall season, while the win-loss ratio is not in our favour, the intent and effort and commitment through those first seven rounds has been at a standard we will continue to work with, but last night wasn't at that standard."

yes some fans at least can see that, we hadn't been smashed, we've been in every game, the side certainly looked committed just execution and concentration was off at times…......especially during the 30-60 min period.

Pascoe said there had been no indication such a heavy defeat was coming and Taylor and his players would be doing some soul searching to determine what had gone wrong.

so by this, I'm not expecting any changes at all, they will give the side one more go and then changes? Seriously, they have to win, there's no ifs no buts about it, if they trot out with the same side they have to win, a loss and the has to be changes, even if its a close loss.

Justin Pascoe has said today that Jason Taylor will remain the coach until at least the end of 2016 :frowning:

not too big of an issue

give him the year, not much advantage ousting him now. we can look for a replacement and take our time in doing so - no need to rush it. give the new coach the whole preseason to try sort us out

Yer, waste another year next year for the new coach to find his feet. Say he doesn't have the players he wants. Stupid move, grab cleary/payten now has a chance to work with players now sign players for next season and resign players he still wants for the club!!
Yer wait until next season, dumb, dumb, dumb!!!
That's poor form if true from pascoe!

"we were pretty confident going into the game that everyone's head was switched on and, if you have 100 per cent effort and commitment, you are not going to complain."

This is a crack at the players, not the coach. He is virtually saying thy were prepared well, but the execution wasn't acceptable.

As I said in another thread, field the team that won the first two games. Can the result be worse than 60-6?

A quote from Brad Fittler.
"….....Fittler said the Tigers' problems stem from the players, not the coach. "I think there were for or five tries scored from within five or six metres (of the tryline)," Fittler said. "It doesn't show much commitment. "It is not Jason's fault. "They were not having a go there. It was just awful."

pick and stick was a policy which sheens was critisised for as well.

but please make some changes ans pacifify supporters a liitle.then we could watch thursdays game with some excitement.

the coach is delusional if he doesnt.

Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe has reiterated the club’s support for coach Jason Taylor and insisted that no one person should bear the responsibility for the embarrassing loss to Canberra, their sixth defeat in succession.
After winning their opening two games, the Tigers were thrashed in the nation’s capital on Saturday evening, heaping more pressure on Taylor. Former Tigers player Braith Anasta claimed on Fox Sports after the game that good sources at the club had told him Taylor had lost the players a long time ago.
However, Pascoe insisted it was wrong to lump the blame on Taylor and assured the club’s supporters that everyone within the club was working to address the issue.
“We have put a lot of energy and effort and capability and resources into the football program,” Pascoe said.
“We will continue to do so. Jason is our coach and his contract is until the end of 2017\. It is our job to make sure he has the best opportunity to perform to his capability.
“Last night was extremely disappointing — not only for him but the whole team. No one single person shoulders that responsibility.
“It is a collective and it needs to be addressed as a collective and we will do so. It’s really disappointing and something that as an organisations we are embarrassed by.
“We have been really proud about what we have achieved over the past six or seven months around many parts of the business both on and off the field.
“We have been able to set some really high standards and adhere to those standards internally.
“Last night certainly didn’t represent any of those standards. The public needs to be aware that we have five days to show our fans and members what they mean to us.”
The Tigers’ game against South Sydney on Thursday night shapes as a defining one for both men in the coaches’ box. While Taylor’s side has lost six in succession, Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire is guiding his side through a crisis of their own.
Souths have lost three in a row, the latest defeat at the hands of Brisbane last Friday night. The Tigers’ losing streak is even longer but Pascoe remains confident the players and football department can pick themselves up after their morale-sapping performance in Canberra.
“Last night they had some pretty frank discussions post-game,” Pascoe said. “They will continue that and the self-analysis during the week. They will work from a tactical perspective about their opponents.
“A lot of this comes down to confidence, too. These guys have to start realising they have a heck of ability and talent — and they need to start showcasing that.”
Asked whether the club would look to intensify negotiations with halves Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks, who are off contract at the end of the season but under the blowtorch over their recent form, Pascoe said: “I don’t think the urgency increases because we’re very comfortable in our discussions with them and (their) management.
“Up until last night — it’s the way you lose sometimes that defines how you’re travelling — our losses we could have and should have won three or four of those five.
“Last night was something that is unacceptable and we won’t tolerate it internally, and we’re not going to. We have five days to address it. Last night the standards weren’t even being closely adhered to and as a consequence that showed on the scoreboard.
“Simple as that.”

Lest We Forget

Have a solemn and good day today folks.

The team selection thing as pointed out by a few has been a consistant at WT for a while… If you look hard enough at other franchises, its pretty common there also once the year starts.

It seems they choose a Top25 and are reluctant to change outside of it unless injury occurs. I assume this has alot to do about Salary Cap & Second Teir Cap and looks more than likely a directive from powers above. This is the budget etc, stick to it?

The Top25 is dictated by alot of factors and cant always be changed a great deal due to the contracts etc, so it appears alot of the decision making of a Top25 happens last year, either towards the end of the season and pre-christmas.

I still feel someone needs to be held accountable for this situation, as we came last last year. You dont need to be a genius to work out that if you dont change much, you will more than likely get the same result.

So who is responsible - Moss or Taylor?

Let me guess an unchanged team, boys put in a half decent effort, lose by 10-12 and its all sweet.

This.

I am surprised that they haven't dusted off the old "_it's a chance for the players to redeem themselves_.." We've seen this far too often and for far too long with this club..Also, what happens if we get trashed by 30, who comes in to clean up the mess and has the attributes to drop name players?
