OFFICIAL Jeral Skelton #294

Staines by half a second after the next.
Bloody shame he didn't get much decent ball in the open in 2024 but sure found the try line when he did.
Dont agree, he had plenty of opportunity last season ti have a crack down the line. He just wimped out of it and came inside nearly every time. He’s soft, bad attitude just here to collect pay check, u can see it in his persona! He had plenty of chances last season to show us what he’s got, unfortunately he did…

Watched highlights of Luke, he's a midget but a real goer with good footwork he's try on debut was impressive his first thought was take the line on. 5'9" and 90kg or probably more after this preseason built like granite I expect him to really come on in the second part of the season

Was last pass out of position a lot too which could of landed tries,

He came back inside cos he’s not fast enough.

I thought your point was he didn’t back himself? He didn’t cos he knew he’d get bailed into touch.
Well both really, he really doesn’t put himself in the line. This is why pamfers were happy from him ti leave, they could see his lack of passion!

Remember when everyone lost their shit over his 4 try debut game? Sure that doesn’t happen often but I think he collectively ran 10 meters for all of them

Any two bit ham and egger can luck themselves into scoring 4 try’s if it’s their lucky day. You only have to think about to our all time great Keith Lulia. Only scored 5 try’s in Tigers colours, and 4 of them came in one game.

I remember a one poster here on here suggested we should offer him 800k after his first season in NRL comparing him to Ponga.

That take was all time.
It’s why I’m wary about Turuva. It’s very easy to look like a million bucks on the end of that backline, and there were times where Charlie definitely did. The thing that concerns me is that Turuva isn’t a To’o. He’s not big and raw boned. He’s more in the Charlie vein. A jockey. I want to see how he goes on the end of our backline before I count him as being a signing on the same level as Luai and May.

Hard to argue against that logic mate I think the key is more power in the centres be it Skelton/Taylan our some other external addition and that may help set them alight.

He's an upgrade on Staines if he can play centre it's a bonus. No one is saying he is on the same level as Luai/May.

I don’t think it’s clear he is an upgrade at this stage. What are we basing it on, him playing off the end of the best club in the modern era? He’s the type of player you can’t really judge cos he’s only ever played in a successful team.

He's also fullback cover. At the start of the 2024 season we struggled to score points I don't think we will struggle to score points with the squad we have assembled. Yes, our defense needs to be better, that's stating the obvious.

It’s absolutely horrendous and is shaping as our Achilles heel

Better fitness, improved line speed to take space away from the attacking team, and improved wrestle to win the ruck and slow the play the ball. Practice to the point of muscle memory.
Idk. Weak defence is in our DNA. It would be the first season ever if we suddenly showed some grit.
